Chapter 271: If Even the Strongest Can't Win, What Are You Here For?
"Dad! Yanjiao is still dozens of kilometers away. If you drive all the way there, how long will it take? There might even be traffic ahead."
Chen Ye suggested, "Why don't I just fly you there instead?"
President Chen knew that his son could transform into a dragon, fly through the air, and at an incredible speed.
However…
He didn't want his son using that ability, especially not in the capital.
The capital had tight air defense systems, cameras everywhere, and even satellites monitoring the area.
No matter how cautious they were, mistakes could still happen.
"No need. There's a transport plane waiting for us ahead."
President Chen continued, "Even if you don't care about exposing your strength now, you should still keep that transformation ability hidden. Once the world finds out, the impact will be enormous, and you'll bring endless trouble upon yourself."
Chen Ye nodded.
He understood what his father meant.
If the world discovered that he was the legendary Azure Dragon, his freedom would be gone.
Whenever a strong enemy appeared, he would be the first to fight.
You're so powerful—if you don't fight, then who will?
Refuse?
All it would take was for someone to stir public sentiment, and soon, the internet would be filled with people criticizing him.
A real-world example? The lives of famous billionaires.
Whenever a disaster struck, they were immediately pressured into making donations.
Refuse, and they'd be labeled heartless capitalists who had lost their conscience.
Take Qin Muyin, for example.
She was officially recognized as the strongest in the country, and on the surface, it seemed glorious.
But no matter what crisis arose, she had to be the first to respond.
If one day, Qin Muyin grew tired of it all and refused to act, she'd be attacked relentlessly.
Public pressure was just one issue.
Another problem—how would the world perceive him once they knew he was the Azure Dragon?
Would they see him as a protector… or a monster?
All of these were possibilities he had to consider.
…
Less than two minutes later.
Chen Ye spotted a small transport plane parked on an overpass, its engines still running—clearly waiting just for them.
"Screech!"
President Chen hit the brakes, stopping the car beside the aircraft.
"Get out!"
Calling to his son, he stepped out first.
Chen Ye quickly followed.
Once the father and son boarded, the transport plane immediately took off, heading straight for Yanjiao.
…
In less than ten minutes.
They arrived at their destination.
From a distance, Chen Ye could already see a massive spatial rift suspended in the air.
Unlike ordinary rifts, this one was deep red and emitted an eerie glow.
"This is the Beast King's spatial rift?" Chen Ye couldn't help but ask.
"That's right." President Chen nodded. "Only a Beast King's rift has this color."
At that moment.
A dark figure appeared in the distance, rapidly approaching the transport plane.
Chen Ye's sharp eyesight quickly made out what it was—a tank.
A tank, of course, couldn't fly.
Which meant…
Someone had thrown it with immense force.
Someone strong enough to hurl a tank across such a great distance?
Judging by this alone, this Beast King possessed terrifying strength!
"Land immediately!" Chen Ye ordered.
The crew hesitated for a moment and instinctively looked toward President Chen.
President Chen understood that his son had noticed something. Without delay, he gave the command, "Do as he says! Land now!"
With the president's orders confirmed.
The transport plane began its descent at once.
Just as the aircraft touched down, the crew finally saw the incoming tank—and their faces went pale.
"Look out! It's a tank!"
"Get down!!"
Prepared in advance, Chen Ye rushed forward, leaped into the air, and—caught the tank mid-flight.
Everyone on the transport plane, except for President Chen, was left utterly speechless.
A tank, hurled at such high speed from the sky—the sheer impact force alone was enough to leave a crater in the ground.
And yet…
Chen Ye caught it.
And landed without issue.
What kind of monstrous strength was this?
Then.
Chen Ye lifted the hatch of the tank and found three soldiers inside—unconscious.
They had likely been knocked out by the force of the throw.
"You all stay here! And help those three soldiers."
After saying this, Chen Ye turned to his father.
"Dad, I'm heading over first."
Without waiting for a response, his figure turned into a dark shadow and shot forward like lightning.
In the blink of an eye, he was gone.
The few people who had come along were left dumbfounded.
President Chen's son was far stronger than anything the internet had described!
…
Moments later.
Chen Ye stopped.
In front of him was a human defense line.
Tanks, rocket launchers, and attack helicopters blocked the path to the capital, buying time for the evacuation of personnel.
In addition to these, a vast number of soldiers stood in formation, forming a modern military defense that exuded an imposing aura.
However, in Chen Ye's eyes, this level of firepower was unlikely to stop the Beast King.
It probably couldn't even slow it down.
With his strength, he could easily charge through without a scratch.
Of course, he had no intention of doing so.
He stepped forward and explained his purpose to one of the soldiers…
Meanwhile.
Inside a temporary command tent.
Several officers were anxiously watching a video feed.
On the screen, Ba Liming had transformed into a towering figure over two and a half meters tall, unleashing his full strength against a monster.
Each of his palm strikes produced powerful dragon-shaped energy waves, radiating an overwhelming force.
Qin Muyin was assisting at his side, using telekinesis to restrain the monster's movements while also manipulating surrounding objects to hurl at the creature.
The two worked together, shaking the ground with every clash in a display of sheer terror.
Yet even with such effort, they were unable to inflict any real harm on the monster.
In fact, watching the battle, the officers felt as if the monster was merely toying with them—never taking the fight seriously, effortlessly handling their attacks with ease.
These were the two strongest figures in the country.
If even they couldn't stop the Beast King, then who could?
Recalling the destruction brought upon by past Beast Kings, the officers' faces grew grim.
"Is it truly impossible to stop the Beast King?"
A military officer muttered, his voice filled with despair.
Hearing this, the commanding officer sighed before asking, "How's the evacuation of the capital progressing?"
Someone responded, "With millions of people, a rapid evacuation is impossible."
The commander remained silent for a moment, then suddenly said, "Tell Captain Qin and President Ba to retreat when they get the chance. Our forces will take over."
The moment these words were spoken—
Everyone in the tent was stunned.
The military had plenty of strong fighters, but compared to Qin Muyin and Ba Liming, they were far weaker.
If they stepped in, they wouldn't last a single round—they'd be slaughtered instantly.
Before anyone could question his reasoning, the commander explained, "They're already at a disadvantage. It's clear they can't defeat the Beast King. If we lose the capital, we can establish a new one. But if we lose Qin Muyin and Ba Liming, that would be a real disaster."
Silence filled the room.
He was right.
Qin Muyin was the pillar of the nation, the one who turned the tide during every Beast Tide event.
If she died today, the consequences would be unthinkable.
At the very least, it would deal a devastating blow to the nation's morale.
There was another genius with an S2 talent.
But they had yet to fully mature and couldn't take on such responsibility just yet.
Someone hesitated before asking, "Don't we still have an ally, the Divine Dragon? Where is he?"
The commander shook his head.
"Do you think beings like that take orders from us? If he was willing to come, Captain Qin would have brought him already. Enough—send word to Captain Qin and President Ba. Have them retreat!"
The commander himself was a Tier Five expert with sharp judgment.
He could see that Qin Muyin and Ba Liming had already been completely overpowered and were out of options.
That monster was practically indestructible!
Just then—
A lieutenant entered the tent, reporting that another strong fighter had arrived to assist.
None of the officers reacted much.
If even the nation's two strongest couldn't win, what difference would anyone else make?
The commander considered dismissing them but, after some thought, changed his mind.
"If they're willing to help, let them go ahead! Make sure to record their name. Regardless of the outcome, anyone willing to step up in a time like this is a hero!"
With orders received, the lieutenant hurried off to carry them out.
