Thunder rumbled. Everything soon felt like a daze to Sarah. In her dying state, she blinked, watching the last bit of moonlight shining brightly above.
Amidst the torment she felt, there was peace flowing inside of her. A peace to reunite with the one she loved.
"I'm coming home to you. I'm coming," she whispered and gave up the last of her breath.
Too late was her mother to reach the scene, too late for her mother to stop what had happened, and too late for her mother to not have thought of Sarah and her powers, of how strong and resilient she was.
When she arrived and cradled Sarah, guilt overcame her. "If only I had known you would go through all this pain, I would have let you live normally," she cried, shaking her head in dismay, "I should have never turned you this way."
"Oh my child," she brushed her lips on Sarah's temple, "I am so sorry, my child."
