31. Unexpected Guest (3)

I was too shocked for a moment to register what happened but I was currently pressed up against someone's chest as they huffed with their heart beating quite fast.

I recognised the Mana Presence which was why I didn't do anything.

"Silas, what is the meaning of this?" Marquis thundered as Silas stood a few meters away holding me in his arms.

"I should be the one asking that. What is the meaning of this? Why are you here?" Silas shouted.

He seemed quite tensed and on edge.

"Do I need your permission to meet my grandchildren now?" Marquis sneered making Silas scoff.

"Don't joke around. Grandchildren? You are here because you want one of them to be your heir, right?"

"What's so wrong with it? You ran away when you were supposed to take up the responsibility so you have no right to interfere with what I do." Marquis seemed really angry this time.

"Besides, what was that way of handling such a fragile child? You must have scared her!" Marquis pointed at me and Silas flinched before he looked down at me.

"You were scared?" He asked me.

"Just startled."

"Put her down, Silas." Marquis ordered and Silas glared at him.

This was the first time that I saw Silas show his emotions so vividly, usually, he would keep a poker face and even hide his face when he would laugh.

"You very well know I won't do that."

Why were they fighting though?

[Defender of Divine Glory says it is not good for family for a father and son to fight in such a way.]

[Goddess of Wisdom says it's normal for families to have different ways of bonding.]

"Will you two stop it?"

"Besides, she is needed somewhere that's why I came to pick her up." Silas shouted making me look at him.

"What's wrong?"

"Her condition has worsened, no medicine is working." He told me and my eyes widened.

"This is as good as abducting her." Marquis shouted making Silas grit his teeth.

"Doesn't matter!"

"Let's go." Silas announced and the pink light flashed before my eyes and I felt Marquis rushing towards us and grabbing my hand before everything disappeared.

I found myself inside a moderately luxurious room before I realised that I was being held by two men.

"What the-Why did you follow us?" Silas snapped at Marquis who ended up getting teleported with us.

"Did you think I'll just stand idly watching you abduct my granddaughter?" Marquis countered.

I heard a faint groan in the background and craned my head to look at the bed that was in the room.

"Stay out of this!"

"Like hell, I would!"

"Stop it!" I snapped making the two men look at me.

"Put me down." I ordered Silas and he obliged.

I walked over to the bed and saw Elise in the bed groaning from pain. Her condition had seemed to grow worse from the last time that I had seen her.

"What did the doctors say?" I asked and Silas appeared beside me.

"They said that her organs were damaged because of excessive poisoning, she couldn't survive even with the medication."

"Slow poisoning?" I asked and he nodded making me sigh.

"Is that Concubine Elise?" Marquis frowned as he stood beside Silas.

"Yes."

Marquis looked at Silas and then at me.

"It can't be helped I guess." I said as I climbed on the bed and took her hand in mine, it felt ice cold.

[Activate Supreme Healing.]

The blue light poured out of my hands and covered Elise's sleeping form, I felt the slight pressure from the spell as my chest started growing tight.

[Warning: Host's body is still weak to carry out the spell.]

"Fuck it and go on!"

[Warning: Host's body is still weak...

I gritted my teeth and pushed past it.

[Transcendent Invulnerability has been activated.]

I didn't know how long the spell went but I ended up passing out.

My head ached when I came to my senses again and I could hear the agitated conversation going on somewhere in the background.

It seemed as though Marquis and Silas were arguing about something again.

I sat up and looked at the two men who were standing a few feet away, it was dark outside and I was in a separate room.

"Ahem..." I cleared my throat and the two looked at me.

"Reina!"

"Reina, are you all right?"

The two at once appeared beside me and asked making me nod.

"I'm fine. How long was I out?"

"Four hours," Silas answered.

"What about Lady Elise?"

The two exchanged a glance before I asked to be taken to her, Silas wordlessly picked me up holding me in his arms again as he started walking to the room where Elise was.

She was awake now and sitting up eating some soup. The maid excused herself when we entered and Elise looked at us with a questioning gaze.

"Di-Did you bring me here?" She asked.

"I did." Silas answered and then gestured at me, "On her word."

Elise looked at me and tilted her head slightly making her lifeless pale blonde hair droop to one side. Her face seemed to have a little colour now and it also seemed as if she had recovered a bit of her strength.

"Um..."

"I'm glad to see that you are recovering."

Her eyes widened as her jaw dropped, "Th-That voice... You..."

I smiled as I gestured for Silas to put me down and I walked up to her.

"You were the one that..." She was staring at me as if I was some sort of an alien.

"Do you feel any pain?" I asked and she kept staring at me.

"Lady Elise, do you feel any pain?" I repeated and she blinked before she shook her head.

"N-No. But how... and why?"

I knew she had a lot of questions but I couldn't tell her everything right in front of Marquis and Silas. There was some time for them to know of it.

"Can you two leave us alone for some time?" I looked at the two men.

They walked outside obediently and I turned to Elise, her brown eyes seemed to be filled with anticipation. I sat on the bed beside her making her look down at me.

"I will tell you everything but you must vow that you will never reveal a word that I tell you to anyone else." I started.

She stared at me for a moment before she hesitantly replied, "... All right."

"Do you want your son to become a King?"

Her eyes went wide and her jaw dropped.

"Or, let me rephrase that, do you want to protect your son and get revenge on the Queen who had made you suffer so much?"

She reached out and gripped my hand, "I-Is that possible?!"

"Only if you endure a little more and trust me."

"Ho-How will you... do it?" She stuttered.

"That's my task."

"And what if you fail? It's impossible to get back at her!"

The fear was clear in her eyes as her hands trembled and I placed my other hand on hers.

"Didn't I take you out of that place?"

She blinked as her trembling stopped.

"If I can take you out of her hands like this then do you think I can't make your son the King?"

She seemed a bit hesitant and I sighed.

"There are other ways as well but now everyone else believes that you are dead even your son and the Queen. I can just leave it at that but do you think the Queen will stop? Think of your son's position right now. He was already in a miserable state and now that he thinks his mother is dead do you think he could go on?"

Her eyes went wide and she shook her head, "Wait if that's the case then-"

"Then what? Do you want to go see him? The Queen will know of it and she will kill you for real this time and even your son."

Elise groaned and her lower lip quivered, I had already made a move so going back was not an option here and I had to make it clear to her as well.

"Think about it, I won't just make your son the King but also make sure that the Queen or her minions won't touch him till that time."

"How?!"

"Leave that up to me. I will keep my word if you follow my instructions."

She still seemed quite anguished and confused as her eyes darted from side to side and her fingers trembled onto mine.

"Your funeral will take place within two weeks and after that, the Queen won't waste time to get Prince Eric out of the picture as well. She thinks her assassin killed you and will rest easy but for your son that won't be the case."

"The decision about your son's life lies in your hands. I will go and talk to him myself regarding his decision but I need your word as well. Do you want to protect your son and get revenge on the woman who made you suffer so much?" I asked again.

She was quiet for a moment as she stared down at our hands before she lifted her head. Her eyes and face seemed to have grown hard with determination.

"Will you promise me that my son will be safe throughout?" She asked.

"Yes, I promise."

She pursed her lips before she answered, "Then, I will follow your word and do whatever you say."

We had a deal.

I gave her the brief instructions and she nodded accordingly, not asking any questions or complaining about anything. Once I was done I squeezed her hand in mine.

"Now, all you have to do is wait for the next move."

"Yes."

I walked outside letting Elise finish her meal and found Silas and Marquis standing outside. I walked over to Silas who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed at his chest.

"Uncle, one stop at Aurelius mansion please." I requested and he sighed before he reached down and picked me up.

"Grandfather, are you coming along?" I asked as I stretched my arm to him.

He stared at me before he took my hand and Silas cast the teleportation spell taking us to the Aurelius mansion.

After the brief work that I had there, we returned to the capital.

"I have work to do so I will leave for now." Silas said as he dropped us off in the garden from where he had taken us.

"Contact me again if anything occurs, all right?" He told me and I nodded before he glanced once at his father and then teleported away.

Marquis Desmond Fairisles was quiet throughout the entire ordeal and I knew he must have connected some dots but he wasn't asking anything.

I reached out and held his hand.

Well, his hand was too big that my small hand could only manage to cover only two of his fingers.

He stopped at my sudden gesture and I looked at him.

"About what we were talking in the morning," I started.

"I don't care if you look scary. You are a kind person." I said and he kept staring at me before he crouched down and scooped me up making my eyes go wide for a moment.

"Thank you for saying that." He said.

"Also, about what you saw today, please don't tell anyone."

"What are you planning, Reina?" He asked.

"I will tell you about it," I said and then smiled at him genuinely, "Because I would need Grandfather's help as well."

He sighed and his lips curled up slightly in a small smile.

"All right."
