### Chapter 2
☆☆☆☆☆☆
It's the first day of Adam's new academic session, and he is waiting for his school bus to arrive. As usual, it's late. He quickly buys some toffees from a nearby store.
"New year, new day, old school, new bus, old friends...not bad," Adam muses to himself.
"It's been like this all my school years, from childhood to my teenage years. I wonder if anything new will ever happen."
While waiting, his mind wanders off to the beautiful girl he saw a few days ago.
"I wish I could meet her again," he thinks. "I don't know why I'm feeling this way, but I just wish to see her."
"Honk! Honk!"
"Huh?" Adam snaps back to reality.
"What, was I daydreaming again? Shoot! I need to get on the bus."
The school bus arrives, and he gets in with the rest of his friends. He greets Mr. Alex, the school bus driver, with whom he has a good friendship.
"New bus, Mr. Alex? Seems you're having a great start this year," Adam says.
"Yeah, let's see how long it runs," Alex replies.
"Don't worry. This time you're gonna rock it!" Adam encourages.
"Hope so! Now go and have your seat," Alex chuckles as he starts the engine.
Adam nods and sits at his usual window seat with his friend, Jayden.
"Jade! How was your winter vacation?" Adam asks.
"You know, the usual stuff," Jayden responds.
"And by 'usual' do you mean going on a tour to the beach?" Adam teases.
"Hehe, so you know, huh?" Jayden laughs.
"Of course! It was all over your social media. I looked up Mystargram, and I must say, you were looking very happy," Adam says with a smile.
They continue chatting halfway to school when Adam notices someone sitting on the fourth seat on the right side, parallel to him. He is baffled as he recognizes the girl.
The same smile, the same cheerfulness, the dimple on her cheeks, and the radiant glow of her eyes. She is the girl he fell in love with at first sight.
"Wow, is she? Is she the girl I saw in my...ah...dreams? What should I do now?" Adam wonders.
His heart starts beating faster, and his ears turn red. If anyone saw him at that moment, they could easily notice that he was blushing.
The rest of the way to school, Adam thinks of the possibilities had he initiated a conversation with her. This is the first time he feels so nervous talking to a girl. It is strange; he has never felt this nervous before.
Questions pop up in his mind. But he doesn't have the guts to talk to her. "Should I ask her name? Or where she lives? But what if she mocks me? Oh, come on. Why am I being so dumb?"
The bus soon reaches his school. He keeps thinking about her and plans to get off after her. But she does not get out, and soon all the students leave the bus. Feeling a bit awkward, he gets down. Afterward, she gets down and heads to her school.
He is surprised to see that her school is just opposite his! This makes him happy and, for the first time, he feels ecstatic.
Later on, the whole day, he keeps thinking about that moment and prays that on the way back home, he will get a chance to talk to her.
But after school, he is late and misses the chance to sit near her.
"Damn it. So close yet so far!" he thinks.
He makes up his mind to talk to her the next day. He had a good look at her face as recompense.
That night, he keeps thinking about her. He didn't fall in love with her body; he fell for her cuteness. Her face, her cheeks, her nose, her ears, her hair, her eyes, and her smile. The perfect combination of all he had ever seen in someone other than his mom.
He is completely smitten by her beauty and decides he wants her as his life partner.
"No, no, I should stop it. I should not start my destruction," he forces himself to ignore his feelings for her.
He tries to convince himself that falling in love should not be his priority right now and that he should concentrate on his studies.
He has seen many of his friends and relatives getting into love and facing the troubles of societal pressures.
"I am mature. I shouldn't make the same mistakes as others. I must take control of myself. I shouldn't flow with emotions."
With these words, he manages to calm himself and sleeps peacefully.
The next day, as he gets on the bus, he finds her sitting with Nancy, a schoolmate of hers, whom he knows.
"Rose, did you know I heard some rumors about a guy trying to propose to you at our school?" Nancy says.
Adam is shocked to hear that, but he is also happy to finally learn her real name.
"Nancy, I don't care about boys. My life goal is to be a brilliant scientist and work for Nexus Innovation, and that's my first priority!" Rose replies.
These very words calm Adam down instantly. He is very glad and grateful to know this.
But he immediately realizes that he is again thinking about her. He quickly ignores those thoughts and hopes to sit far away from her.
But destiny has different plans. To his surprise, there is only one seat left! And that too is the seat parallel to Rose's seat. He sighs.
With no option left, he sits on that seat and starts looking out of the window, hoping to think or daydream about something else.
A few minutes later, he hears Rose and Nancy chatting. Her cute laugh makes his determination crumble to pieces.
He cannot turn away from the feelings that have already risen in his heart, and he knows that she has already made a place in his heart.
