Chapter LXXII - Shopping (part 2)

"Say, Rize. You seemed to be buying a lot of things today. How much money did you get from the mission?"

Cony asked me while we ate. I grinned before I answered. I lifted my right hand and opened my fingers. All of them.

"Five? Five... Thousand??"

"Correct!"

Cony placed her hand on her chin while I took a bite on my meal.

"That was actually lesser than I thought."

"Yeah. For a mission that large, shouldn't you be having a house right now?"

"I don't really ask for much from the master. Even though I probably should have. He gave me something else besides money, though."

I showed them the bracelet under the sleeves. They all looked at it, and tried not to glance at the charred skin underneath.

"That's a cool looking bracelet. What does it do?"

Cony asked, so I created a small fireball on my hand. I pressed the middle gem, and the fireball disappeared.

"Woah! It removes your magic?"

"Not removing. Look closer."

Cony and Valey took a glance closer. And they can see a small sun at the size of an ant.

"It... What?"

"It limits your magical output by an eighth."

"Oh... How is that useful?"

I turned the device off, and the sudden fireball appeared on my hand shocked them.

"For that."

"Oh..."

I explained to them the main uses, which is for stealth. There will be times where I have to hide myself from showing off, and this item might prove useful.

I also told them how this thing is very rare and expensive. If sold, this thing could reach around twenty thousand Jules (Keila told me).

"It also could trick magic tools that check your magic points. Look."

I took out my magic points checking tool and activated it. The number only shows 1172, but when I turned the bracelet off, it shows 9376.

"Your magic points are... nearly ten thousand?"

Right. Cony just knew about it. I placed my finger on my lips, and she nodded very quickly.

"What happens if you accidentally pressed it?"

Valey asked.

"Well, if something happened, I would probably know. The difference when this thing was on or off felt very different, so I would know."

"Ohh... Can I try it?"

One by one, they tried it. Cony first, even though her magic was rather incomplete compared to me or Valey.

After eating, we continued roaming around the city, buying stuff. I excused myself to go back to the inn and peed since we were nearby, but I actually went to the market and met the guy who sells masks. I ordered the same mask as before, the skull mask. 

Apparently I can modify it. So I asked for the black and red colour, and the mask guy said it will be done by tomorrow.

Then I rushed back towards the girls again. It's as if I disappeared to pee in my inn.

The rest of the day went plainly. In the end, we didn't get to find any decorations shop, so we just wandered around the city, talking about random stuff. Mostly boys stuff, because you know. Girls.

Anyway.

Time goes very fast when you are having fun. And after roaming for almost twelve hours, we are quite tired.

We decided to go back home just an hour away from the third bell. We agreed to do a mission again tomorrow, and that we will talk about it tonight from the coms crystal. It was my idea to use the crystals like a phone. Normally, people don't even use the crystal that much except for emergencies.

Arriving at the inn, I was too tired to do anything. I placed all the things I bought on the floor, then leaped to the bed. I slept and woke up when it's already dark.

I can hear small buzzes coming from my coms crystal. Turns out everyone was talking already.

"Hello guys..."

I said half asleep to the crystal, and everyone who heard it was quite surprised.

"Rize?? Was that you? Why does your voice sound heavier?"

Cony answered from behind the crystal.

"I... Just woke up."

"Hehh... You slept too long already. It's morning!"

"No it's not, Cony."

Valey's voice suddenly came out and scolded Cony.

I took a glance outside the window, and it's already very dark. But it's definitely not morning. There's no sound of chicken anywhere.

"Cony, you liar."

"Hey! It's all a joke! You guys are way too serious."

"I was joking too. You think I can't tell the difference between night and morning?"

"Pfftt!!"

Another voice came from behind the crystal after I said the joke.

"Cony you are just amazing."

"Thank you so much. Was that Hod or Bar?"

"Barett, here."

We continued to talk on the crystal like a phone call. The difference is, what is connecting us is magic. 

Not some random internet data package that's expensive as fuck.

We talked all the way until we got sleepy, but we all agreed to go on a mission tomorrow in the afternoon.

I got to go to the church tomorrow, and then go to the library for the grand opening with Cony. Valey said she might come along, but still quite unsure.

Hod and Barett won't be coming, so it's another girls day.

For some reason, I liked having girls' days.

Maybe I should get a girlfriend or something…
