Chapter LXXV - Spar and Training (part 2)

After a while, Valey arrived at the arena. Then Cony after her, and followed by Barett. Finally our group is complete.

Let's begin the training.

We all went down to the arena and picked up a separate spot from everyone else on the right corner. Cony and Valey looked quite hesitant, but they had been training for this day.

Today is the day we test their magical capabilities.

"Okay, I can do this. I have been training for two weeks, I can't make mistakes."

Cony mumbles by herself. Me and Hod agreed to evaluate their magic progress as to how far they have gone, and if they succeeded, then we can allow them to have the role that we talked about.

The Magician role.

Me and Hod are magicians since we can use magic without using weapons. Due to that, we will be the one evaluating Cony and Valey, who had been training for the past two weeks.

As for Barett… he had to sit this one out.

"I'll go first!"

Valey decided to go first, since she is more confident than Cony. Her element is lightning, and she had been training to augment her body with lightning, as well as conjuring lightning. Which means, she had become a magic augmenter as well as a magic caster.

Simply said, she is now a fully fledged magician. Let's see to what extent.

"Alright."

I'm the one testing Valey, and Hod will watch from afar. I moved a little further from the others, and Valey followed behind me. Once we were far enough, we began preparing. She took a stance, without holding any weapons. Her hands are glowing from the lightning's intensity, as well as her feet. 

She is ready to move.

I also enchanted my body in magic energy calmly. Unlike her, I can't augment my body in flames yet. It's a skill that not many can do, augmenting the body with elements. Jonus was able to do it, and he became insanely strong after that.

I wonder how strong I will become if I can augment my body in flames. Hmm, food for training.

"Anytime you are ready."

I said as I took a stance. Valey's gaze turned serious. Her eyes are lit from the lightning's enchantment. As she was about to jump, the air around her stiffens as her hair slowly levitates, and her whole body is glowing blue, covered in lightning.

In a flick, she moved like a lightning bolt.

I wasn't ready, and she was already behind me.

A slight graze can be seen on my cheek. Her move was too fast for my eyes. Everyone watching was awed and amazed by her sudden speed, but when I turned back, her face was deep on the ground.

"Wh-Why... are you on the ground?"

I asked her, and she gave me a thumbs up with her face still buried on the ground. Hod and I let out a sigh at the same time.

She needs more training.

But overall, that speed was awesome. It's like facing Prym all over again.

I pulled her body back up and I can see the wounds on her face, as well as her tears.

"I... couldn't control myself when I moved..."

"It's fine. You just need to control it. At least you are able to activate it, and that much is enough. Not even I can cover my body in flames, so you are good."

I said as I activated my healing magic to heal her face. Her face that was full of wounds was now healed completely, and now forming a smile.

I patted her shoulder. I am not done.

"Maybe next time, use your feet to stop the speed."

"Okay."

"Want to try again?"

"I think I'll sit down for a while and let Cony go."

I turned my gaze at Hod, and he nodded.

"Okay Cony, let's go."

Hod will be the one assisting Cony. Me and Valey went to the wall and sat down next to Barett while leaning back, watching Cony and Hod. I gave Valey a bottle of water since it must be painful for her to just eat the floor.

"Okay, Cony. Take your time."

Hod said to Cony as she took her stance. She lifted her right hand, and a ball of wind was conjured. To everyone's surprise, that ball of wind immediately changed its form into a wind blade. 

The wind blade is now floating on top of Cony's hand, but Cony didn't stop there. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and her body slowly lifted itself up in the air. Now she is floating half a meter from the ground. 

She is flying.

A grin formed on my face as I watched. But the largest grin of all, is worn by the flying mage herself.

"I have been waiting for this day for far too long!"

Cony shouted as she prepared to attack. In front of her, Hod is also preparing

"Bring it then."

Hod placed both of his hands backwards. He wants to show off to Cony that to use magic, we don't need hands.

"I'm going!"

Cony quickly dashed forward while flying. Her speed is faster than a normal running speed, but it's definitely slower than Valey's movement from before. 

But it is still very fast.

Cony threw the wind blade towards Hod, and Hod simply leaped back. The ground where he stood before immediately erected an ice wall from the ground. 

But Cony's wind blade isn't as simple as a normal sharp wind slicer. The blade stabbed the ice wall, and it burst into a large horizontal tornado.

The wind burst caused the ice wall to explode, and from the opening, Cony flew past the gust of frozen particles in the air.

Somehow the shards of ice manage to annoy her, causing her flight speed to slow down.

Hod used this chance and stumped his foot to the ground really hard. Multiple pillars of ice made its way towards Cony, and one of them managed to smack Cony from the ground, throwing her into the air.

Fortunately, she can fly now. She stopped the momentum and floated ten meters in the air. After studying Hod's expression, Cony became slightly pissed and began flying around fearsomely.

Everyone in the arena has already stopped what they are doing to watch the fight as Cony flies around the arena's airspace to attack Hod with her wind blades.

She can only conjure one wind blade at a time, and the wind blade was able to knock down all of Hod's walls.

She had been training very much the past two weeks. On her home, during missions, and even while reading the books at the library. She will not back down now, not against someone she had been looking up to for so long.

She will defeat Hod.

The wind blades were able to get close into Hod, but Hod was still able to react. He lifted a wall of ice from the ground, reducing the force of the wind that Cony's wind blade has. 

But Hod was a fool to think that Cony only has one ability.

Wind slashes.

Cony had also mastered those. She kept it as an ace card, in case Hod dropped his focus.

And now, Hod has been moving linearly as he kept on defending from Cony's attacks. This is the perfect time for a change in the techniques.

Multiple wind slashes flew towards Hod at a frightening speed, but unlike the wind blades, it doesn't explode and its force isn't as strong. 

Because it doesn't matter. The speed is the key.

Hod was still pushed away from the force of the wind blade when the wind slashes came. It was so fast, and his eyes can only follow the wind blades as it slowly reaches him. He can't dodge it at all.

Hod let out a slight chuckle,

and the wind blades hit him perfectly.
