Chapter LXXIX - Evening's Call (part 1)

The carriage arrives in the capital during night time.

It only took about three hours for the carriage to get into the capital. Right after they arrived, Armir was immediately questioned by the guards.

"State your businesses."

The knight said calmly at the passengers, and Armir quickly hopped down from the carriage and faced the knight.

"Sir Knight! My name is Armir, the future chief of a village on the far north of the kingdom! We are in a dire situation!"

The knight thought it might be some funny joke. But at the chance of it not, he questioned the passenger further.

"Where did you come from?"

"Far north. A small village at the foot of the mountain."

"Hmm, let's see…"

The knight took out a map from his pocket, and he lit the map using his other hand that is holding a lantern. It's the map of Mazino's entire territory.

He searched for a while, and finally found the location of the village the passenger was talking about.

"Here?"

The knight pointed at the village right next to the mountains on the north. Seeing a well drawn map for the first time, Armir hesitated a little. But because the map is very detailed, he was able to recognize his village.

"Yes! That's my village!"

Seeing that Armir is very excited from finding his village, the knight nodded.

"Alright then. Follow me."

The knight turned around and headed to the barracks. Armir can only follow, leaving Belland alone on the carriage.

Arriving, the knight told Armir to sit down at the chair right in front of an officer on the barracks. The officer asked Armir a couple questions.

"Name?"

"Armir. Armir Joh."

"Identification card?"

"I… don't have that. But, I have these."

Armir gave the knight an emblem. He doesn't know what the emblem means, since the chief only told him to give it to the people that will be questioning him at the gate, and they will let him in.

The officer turned his gaze at the emblem, and quickly recognized the emblem.

"This is an emblem of a knight…"

The officer studied the emblem and clicked a small button on the bottom. The emblem was split in two. No, it opened a small room inside. A message.

The officer read the message and nodded.

"Alright. I will make you a temporary identification. This can only be used during this emergency. Got it?"

The officer agreed so quickly to Armir, that he began to question what is written on the paper. The officer made Armir a temporary identification paper and had a personal knight to guard him around the kingdom.

"Mister knight, eh, do you know where I can get the help from? I have never been to the capital before."

The officer seemed to understand, since he had been in this situation many times before. Villages get attacked many times, and it's normal for knights to not notice them.

"Yes. For these sorts of situations, we usually call in adventurers."

"Adventurers?"

"Strong barbarians who hunt monsters as their daily life."

Woah. Such a work exists??

Armir quickly became hopeful again. The officer can see the bright smile on Armir's face and let out a sigh. He then called for his friend to be Armir's guard.

Before long, the knight and Armir is inside the kingdom.

"Let's go to the adventurer's Office."

The knight said at Armir, who seemed to be dazed at the sight in front of him.

The bright city, tall buildings, crowded roads.

Armir is in a paradise.

"O-Okay…"

He followed the knight as the two began marching towards the Office.

Armir had never been to the capital before. Though, he already expected the capital to be very good looking, but this is beyond his expectations.

Tall buildings with glass all over it, people walking around with smiles on their faces alongside their families, and shop stalls selling aromatic meals.

This is absolutely something he had never imagined to have ever experienced.

The knight seemed to know what's going on inside Armir's mind, so he stayed silent as Armir enjoyed the sight.

Before long, they arrived on the front door. The knight went ahead and entered the Office, followed by Armir. The inside of the Office is large, and there is a diner right next to the receptionist desk.

The knight is going for the receptionist desk that is currently being occupied by the adventurers lining up.

The knight cuts through the line, and arrives on the receptionist desk.

"K-Knight? What is-"

The knight handed a piece of paper to the receptionist with short hair and red eyes. The receptionist read the paper with worry before immediately running upstairs, leaving the line in front of her.

A minute later, she came back with a tall, important man behind her.

"Follow me."

The man commanded with a single cold tone. The knight and Armir followed the man towards a room on the second floor, which seemed to be his office.

The man sat down on the chair behind the table. His eyes studies Armir like a prey.

"Now, I understand that this situation is very dire, so let's get to it."

The receptionist lady is also on the desk, standing up while preparing the quill and tint to note things on a piece of paper.

Armir turned his gaze to the man sitting, and he knows very well from his actions, that this man is an important man.

This is the guy he has been looking for.

The chief of the adventurers.

Valon waited until Klane was ready before starting the questioning. Once Klane had the quill and paper on the table, he began.

"Now… Tell me everything."
