Chapter CXXX - Battle Royale Event (part 2)

"... And finally Kresna Moda… is out! All the contestants from class B-2, C-3, D-3 were completely wiped! Whoever you are, you are doing great!!"

Why, thank you, miss commentator!

After beating down the nine seniors, we quickly headed into the deeper part of the forest, hoping to find any more prey to beat down.

We came across a member from class C-1, and he looks quite frightened. If I heard correctly from the announcer, two members from class C-1 were annihilated, and this guy might be the last one.

"P-Please! Don't hurt me!"

"... Why are you even out here, dude?"

Alden felt quite sympathy for this guy. He is from the same class as his friend, after all.

"I... I have no choice. Everyone from my class appointed me to go here... I never wanted to come here!"

Alden let out a sigh and turned around.

"All right, we'll spare you. Just tell Melka that you owe him one."

"T-Thanks..."

Seeing that we were walking away from him, he felt at ease. Suddenly, I can feel an enmity coming from him.

Hmm… actually, let's use this.

The sudden sense of magic attack immediately alerted Lemillia and Alden. The two turned around, but it was all too late.

BARR!!

"Alden!!"

Alden immediately got attacked from behind and got thrown all the way to the trees. Lemillia turns to make sure Alden is okay, but another lightning strike is already launched at her.

She turned her gaze that is slowly getting brighter and brighter.

BAARR!!!

Glad I made it in time, huh?

I put up a shield made out of shadow to stop the lightning strike, and the shadow shield fully stopped the lightning strike.

"W-What?!"

The last thing he saw before he passed out was a red eyed devil with a wide grin. After a few seconds, that dude became fully covered in bruises.

"Ken Mazda from C-1, out! All contestants of class C-1 have been eliminated!"

I made my way to Alden on the wall, and he looked quite pissed that he got attacked.

"Why... didn't you save me?"

Ah… so he noticed.

"I thought it would be a good lesson for you. And guess what, it did."

"… Was it wrong to be nice to people?"

"It's not. But, you have to understand some things before you are going to help him. If that guy really doesn't want to be here, he would have quitted a long time ago."

"... Right... I guess I'll follow your lead from now on."

"What!? This isn't about me taking the lead! This is about you… understanding the situation."

I lifted him up by picking him from the collar, then I placed his face ten centimetres away from mine. With a cold tone, I taught him a lesson.

"Never show mercy on a battlefield… Everyone here is out to get you. And if you don't get them first, you lose."

I pushed him away, and he landed his back on the tree again. He touched his back to check, and his wound was gone. I had healed him while picking him up.

I nodded at Lemillia and we continued our stroll down the forest. If I wanted, I could just fly through the forest and take down everyone, but that would be too greedy of me. Besides, I shouldn't be showing off too much.

There are a lot of people watching… I can't show off here just yet.

The game goes on for about an hour, and a lot of people have been eliminated from the battles. We have not found anyone else after that C-1 guy, and it made me quite bored.

We decided to stop at a large lake at the center of the arena. Initially we came here to see if there's anyone, but apparently there isn't.

So, we just hang here, like some friends on a vacation.

"Say, isn't it weird how there is no one here?"

"Yeah... Everyone is playing it too safe."

Though I said that, I too wasn't sure. The commentator is not saying how many people are left. And not knowing about something like that made me quite anxious.

Before long, more and more people got eliminated.

"Isn't the amount of people getting eliminated becoming faster?"

"Yeah. I thought so too."

I tried enhancing my senses, but this arena is just too large, and there are too many people in the spectators seat. I couldn't sense the whole place.

No, more like… something is bugging me. I just can't use my full senses.

After waiting for ten minutes, something finally came. A large sound, coming from our right.

It's... flying?

A person flew past the top of the trees and arrived on top of the pond. She stopped her flight and floated there as she studied us.

On her hand is a bright white lance formed with light magic, and behind her back are six wings made out of wind magic.

A powerful light and wind dual wielding mage has appeared before us. Suddenly I remembered Jericho.

But, the person in front of us is no one simple. Just the fact that she is flying and is capable of showing this level of pressure made both Lemillia and Alden look shocked.

I enchanted my eyes to read the text on her left armband, and I can read it very clearly.

A-3.

A grin formed on my face as the thought alone riles me up.

The strongest of the third year… huh?
