Chapter CXXXI - Trio of Light (part 1)

She slowly approaches us in the air and stops ten meters away from us.

Her short orange hair is being swayed by the force of her flight wind and her blue eyes study us like we are her arch nemesis. The lance on her hand looks quite powerful, and her light armour is no less scary.

"You are from… class E? First years?"

The senior from class A-3 called to us from the air, and we all nodded.

"... I see. That's too bad."

She slowly turned around, and with the same cold tone, she spoke again.

"I don't fight weak people."

She then began floating away, leaving us. But, she is not that fast in leaving us, which means she must be waiting for something.

She is waiting for us to reply to her taunting.

"... Too weak?"

VWOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

I released an extremely heavy pressure, and her flight immediately halted. She then slowly turned her gaze at me while shuddering in fear.

Fear in knowing… that she had taunted the wrong person.

Behind me, Alden and Lemillia can only watch as I slowly float upwards with my single shadow wing. My eyes were fully locked on the senior as I spoke with her.

"You are from class A third year, correct?"

She slowly turned her shocked gaze at me, and her body slowly turned to face me.

"Best seed of the third year... Aloona Dealan."

Bingo.

I was right. The students in all the classes would never send weaklings to this battle royale event. That is because the battle royale event is where one can rack up so many points from just eliminating and winning, so the students from every class would send in their strongest member to rack up as many points as possible.

Which is why we were very shocked to see Arfius on the five versus five event. We were expecting to see him here, eliminating enemies for a ton of points.

Looks like my true enemy for this event will be her, instead...

From how she talks, she is quite proud of herself. An ego that can only be found from a certain blue haired boy.

But, she is different. She is sharp and smart, seen from how she purposely taunted us by calling us weak.

Fighting her… will be a good practice before I face Arfius.

"Rize Violet. Nice to meet you."

I nodded at her while I introduced myself, and she nodded back.

"Rize!! She is the top student of the third year!!"

Alden shouted loudly and worriedly from the beach. I glanced at him, and I can tell that he is serious.

Alden has been a student longer than me, and he probably knows more about the academy, such as the best seeds from each year.

"Say, Rize..."

The senior lifted her lance and played around with it.

"I have been flying around and eliminating people, but I have resolved not to beat anyone who is too weak to fight."

She finally straightened her lance at me.

"And… seeing how you have that kind of pressure on you, then you must be strong."

"I am. You don't have to look down at me."

"Then… I guess I will take this chance to apologize beforehand..."

She said as she took a stance. But before she could attack, two more people entered the arena. The two are also flying… It will be very difficult to fight them all alone, especially since I'm not that good at flight.

"Aloona! Stop flying alone!--"

The other two, females, glared at me and quickly recognized my face.

"Y-You are that adventurer!!"

Those two seemed to recognize me rather than Aloona.

The two then flew towards Aloona and whispered something to her ears. They gossiped for about thirty seconds before finally glaring at me.

From their expressions, I can tell I'm in trouble.

"The three of us have decided that we will fight you. Only you."

"Huh?"

The other two then slowly moved away from Aloona and created a distance between me and them. Now, the three of them are forming a triangle, with me in the middle.

"We have decided that you are strong enough to take the three of us at once…"

"And that we wanted to defeat you using everything that we got."

Huh? Wait, what?

"... Can I at least have my friends to help me?"

"No, you may not. And, it's not like you needed their help."

"... You don't know that..."

""Yes we do.""

The other two suddenly spoke out at the same time, so I let out a sigh and turned towards Lemillia and Alden.

"You two... stay put."

"W-What?!"

"Sorry, but I guess I'm taking all the fun here."

"W-Wait, Rize!!"

I slowly floated higher upwards, and the trio from class A-3 followed me. We have decided to pick airborne flight fight as the theme, so might as well fly higher.

Now, three pressures are leaking from the three sides around me. So I might as well release...

Let's see… twenty five percent?

VWOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"W-What the hell..."

"What is… this pressure..."

The air around us turned extremely heavy, and the seniors are having a hard time breathing. But, they needed to withstand this if they wanted to fight me. After all, they themselves were the ones challenging me.

"Tch!!

We, the Trio of Light, will not lose to a single person! Charge!!"

ZIIINGGGG!!!!

Aloona said as she lifted her light lance. The light lance then quickly turned into an energy beam and fired towards me. The other two also followed her and shot their light beams.

ZIIIINGGGGG!!!!!!!

I see. The three of them are light mages, hence the trio of light.

Even though Aloona is a dual element mage, her main one is still light magic. A different case to Jericho, after all.

I simply cladded myself in a small amount of shadow armour and protected myself from the beams. The shadow protection completely protected me from the insane heat of the light beams they fired.

When the beams lose their source, it finally shows the black egg floating in the sky that was previously being fired upon. I slowly removed the shadow egg and showed myself to them, completely unaffected by their light magic attacks.

"W-What? Unscathed?"

"Well, the three of you asked for it. I guess it's time to get serious."

I took a deep breath and let all my air out. I quickly formed a grin before letting myself fall down.

The speed of the wind as I fell down with my face facing down activates the cold adrenaline inside my blood, and I quickly casted fire magic to stop my descent like a rocket. Then I turned upward to face my opponents and shot a basketball sized firebomb, exactly at the middle of the three's position.

"Hihi."

With that little chuckle, I fired the firebomb.

VWOOOMM!!!!

Seeing how the green firebomb is no ordinary fireball, Aloona quickly shouted to her friends.

"Everyone, move!!!--"

BLAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
