A round ball of explosion quickly formed in the skies, eating away everything within a fifty meters radius. Luckily, Aloona and her friends have made it out in time, and they have regrouped.
The entire arena was shaken, even the lake below was greatly affected. Alden and Lemillia got slightly thrown back and even got wet from the lake's tsunami. The spectators were amazed by the sudden bright green explosion at the center of the arena, but they had no idea what happened.
It all happened right at the center of the arena, the part where everyone will have difficulties seeing, since the whole arena was so big.
Meanwhile, the trio were light mages. They are indeed quicker than any other mages, hence capable of dodging such explosions.
Unfortunately, I predicted it.
"You guys okay!?"
"Yeah, we are good--"
BAKK!!!
A loud punch came from Aloona's friend with long black hair. Everyone in that team can only watch as she immediately gets thrown to the lake below.
I was already above her head by the time she spoke, and I simply smacked her towards the water.
"Jennis!"
Aloona turned her gaze to face me and shot her gigantic light beam, but I simply dodged to the back and rushed towards her.
A shadow fist quickly formed on my hand. And as I punched, the fist grew bigger and bigger until it's ten times the size of my hands.
"Tch!-"
BAAAKKKK!!!!!!!
Aloona got smacked away by the giant fist, but she was still able to control her flight and rebalanced in the air. Her face was bleeding quite badly, but she seemed to be still in control.
Her friend with the light pole approached me from behind and swung her stick, but I flew to the right to dodge. She formed three light balls around her back and they all shot beams at me, but I was able to dodge every single one by moving backwards and dancing in the air.
This is... surprising.
Right now, it feels like my senses have gotten so much sharper than before. Not just that, even with only one wing, I can fly and dodge these light beams just fine.
Flying with one wing is supposed to be difficult, and yet I'm dodging and weaving very easily…
How? How am I not getting hit even once?
While dancing in the air, dodging the light beams, I slowly turned my gaze towards my opponent who was mindlessly firing tons of light magic beams.
Her expression…
I see. It was never me to begin with.
My dodging was never that amazing. In fact, it was probably horrible.
But… It was all her.
From her extremely frightened expression, I can tell she is purposefully firing these light beams without any sort of planning. She just kept on firing, not aiming and not caring for her own well being.
She just wants to keep me away…
Because she is just that scared.
Tch… how disappointing.
Wasn't she Aloona's friend? From her armband, she looks to be from class A as well.
She can't even put up a cold stand in front of a powerful opponent. How laughable, the standard for this academy's greatness is truly not enough.
Even the most advanced of mages will still lose to adventurers due to their lack of wit and experience, despite their great talent and money to buy knowledge.
… Whatever.
I just have to knock them down and do something later.
As I danced, I formed ten fireballs above me and they all shot fire blazes at her. It was large and hot, so she couldn't dodge all of them.
"Kyahh!!!"
"Elvin!!"
After receiving the ten green fire blazes at once, she couldn't dodge and got knocked down before falling to the water. Her clothes looked charred, and a little bit of her cheek got a little burned.
That… might be too much. I may have gone a little off with my emotions, there.
Aloona dashed forward with her eyes brimming with anger. She tried using her lance to stab me, but I danced and danced, and none of her attacks was able to hit.
While she had six wings made from wind magic, I only had a single wing made out of shadow magic. And yet, it's very clear to anyone watching which flight mode is more capable.
That is because she couldn't control her emotions, and she let her actions become predictable. In terms of wit and experience, I topped her. Even though she can fly better than me, even though her magic is probably stronger than mine… she still can't win.
So… this is the strongest from the third year, huh?
How disappointing… really.
In the end, she slashed the lance and shot away a light slash. The light slash made their way at me with high speed, but I simply formed a shadow shield to protect me.
Out of options, she can only unleash her strongest move.
She held both of her hands up and created a large ball using light magic. While the ball is growing bigger and bigger, beams of light come out from the ball and attack everything in the path.
I got worried, since a few of those beams might actually hurt Lemillia and Alden, but with the tail of my eyes, I saw the two taking cover behind the trees beforehand, so I guess they are fine.
I glared at the two opponents floating on the water. One of them, Elvin I think is the name, is unconscious while the other watches as Aloona unleashes her most powerful attack. Looks like they are fine as well.
"Take this if you think you can handle it!"
ZRIIIIINNGGGGG!!!!!!
VWOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aloona moves her hand forward and the ball of light quickly stops all beams and focuses them all into one. The single gigantic beam made its way at me, so I thought I should answer it.
I placed both of my palms together with only a ten centimetres gap between each other, and poured magic energy to form a single ball of fire. The green ball turned bigger and bigger until it's the size of a basketball. Then I placed the ball of flames to my side, and charged it even more.
I kept on pouring magic while increasing its pressure. The pressure force is now the same as a one hundred meter diameter firebomb, and I think this should be enough.
I moved the ball forward and unleashed the fire blaze towards the gigantic beam of light coming at me, and the two forms of energies collided.
VWOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!
The whole arena turned dark from the sudden light collision between the two beams, and while the two were colliding, everyone else stopped their fight to see.
Her light beam is definitely strong, I give her that.
But in the end, a battle of beams is a battle of resources, and I have way more magic energy than her. With a single push, I am already beating her by a huge margin.
ZIIINGG!!!!
"N-No way..."
My fire blaze slowly eats away her light beam and pushes further. Until it finally arrives on the source, which is the ball of light she conjured.
Let this be a lesson...
BAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
The ball of light exploded and blasted her away to the beach. She landed on the ground with a crater, unconscious.
Her friend came to aid her by swimming to the shore, but by the time she arrived at the shore, the announcer had already announced.
"Aloona Dealan and Elvin Dealan from class A-3, out!"
Seeing how the two of her allies were out, the final member of class A-3 just stood at the beach and glared at me, who was floating above the water, five meters away from her.
"Congratulations... You have defeated the champions of the game."
"Thanks. What will you do?"
"Well, this counts as you defeated me anyways. So I thought, why not give me one last shot?"
"Are you sure? You won't just give up?"
"If I give up, you won't be receiving the score, and that will be unfair. You beat us fair and square. So go ahead and-"
BARR!!!
A lightning strike came from the left, and Lemillia was the one who shot it.
"Oh... Eh, were you two… talking just now…?"
I turned to her with a really annoyed expression, and Lemillia panicked heavily while Alden simply laughed behind her.
I just realized I had teammates…
"Jennis Dealan out! With this, everyone from class A-3 is now out! We have some underdogs here, people!!"
Yeah, no shit.
Afterwards, the game continued, and we eliminated a lot more people.
The game finally ends when all the contestants have been defeated, and class E-1 won the game fair and square, with a score of 450 points.
The second team with the highest points is actually Aloona's team with 270 points. They went flying around defeating people and racked up quite a lot of points, plus the second place team bonus points.
Which means our team won by quite a large amount of points, and that will definitely and greatly help our scores later to get us into class A.
Cheers for class E!
