After introducing one another to the team, the supervisor gave us what mission to do.
There are around 75 teams in this large field, and everyone was grouped up to talk about their missions. The supervisor read the mission out loud from a piece of scroll, and they were given time to discuss the mission.
I wonder how they manage to get 75 missions for a single day… that was rather difficult to do unless the mission gatherer is like the adventurer's Office.
Then again, this is the military of an entire kingdom we are talking about. Getting 75 missions should have been easy.
I used my super hearing, and heard that the other teams got some rather simple missions, like dealing with low ranked monsters in the woods or helping a village with their drought issue. Those were rather simple, and could be considered a low ranking mission in adventurer terms.
My team, however…
"Dungeon conquering?"
Everyone who heard what mission that we got immediately turned this way in shock. The first year, Leo, read the content of the mission aloud which tells everyone what our mission was.
We took turns in reading the mission scroll, because Roy didn't get the chance to read it aloud. Albert from the third year snatched the mission scroll from his hand, and read it by himself. Arfius stole it from his hand and read it. Afterwards, he handed it to me, and I read it together with Keira and Leo.
Despite it being a dungeon conquering, it was merely a Purple ranked dungeon. Xyphon uses the same danger system like Mazino for their dungeon ranking, and it makes it easier for me to understand.
"How dangerous is a Purple rank?"
Arfius asked me, and I shook my shoulders.
"Not worth your time?"
"Ahh…"
Hearing that we looked down on the mission, Roy became slightly annoyed. He was a bit angry when I threatened him before in front of so many people, which builds up his courage to speak now.
"That dungeon was opened right next to a village… Our mages were quick to react, luckily. Don't look down on monsters…"
Everyone from our group stared at him with confusion, but only me and Arfius looked rather annoyed. Arfius pointed his finger at me while still staring at Roy.
"She is an adventurer, you know? Ad-ven-tu-rer."
"Wow, you know how to spell adventurer."
"Damn right, I can!"
After that, Roy became silenced. We noted all the details on the mission and returned the mission scroll to him.
About a few minutes later, we were given a greenlight to go to our location. Roy was supposed to be our carrier this time, but Arfius lifted us upwards before he even got the chance to do it.
I separated from them and flew by myself. Keira Korvus from the Korvus family was quite surprised after seeing my flight using shadow magic, that she tried creating shadow wings as well. She couldn't flap them properly, and kept on falling.
I ended up teaching her a little bit on using shadow wings, and she can flap just a little bit. Her flaps were not enough to fly quickly like Arfius, though, so she ended up returning to fly with Arfius.
"Race to the dungeon?"
"Hey, not fair!! I have baggage with me!!"
"Then, I'll take half."
I grabbed Albert and Keira with me using two large shadow hands, and now Arfius is flying with Leo and Roy by his side. Roy is extremely confused as to what is happening, but he did not dare to say anything.
I sped up my flight forward as a head start, making Albert scream from how fast it was. Arfius too sped up as well, and Roy was quite scared and cried.
We arrived in the dungeon in no more than twenty minutes, which was far outside the city's walls. It is still technically a Xyphon territory, but it was very far away.
It's amazing how flight can make things so fast. This distance should be reachable by carriage in about one or two hours, and yet we reached it in just twenty minutes.
I ended up winning because my flying style is more fluid than Arfius' stiff wind magic. Once we landed, Arfius was on the ground completely out of breath. We had the same amount of people with us, and yet he lost the race by this much.
"Hah… Just you… wait… hah…"
"Sure thing. Let's wait for the noob Arfius to take a breathing, guys!"
"No…! I don't mean that…! Hah…"
Poor guy was so tired, he was sweating endlessly on the ground there.
Albert had to puke on the forest while Keira was asking me about things with my use of shadow wings. I told her about a couple details, and she immediately tried it.
Leo also asked me some things about how he too can create a flight method, and I told him that it was not that easy.
After all, there is a reason why he is special among the first years. Aside from his straightforward personality, he also came from the Hugo family that was known for their courage and ferocious personality.
And yet, Leo was the silent type. That's a clear hint to how special he is.
Everything about him on the outside is just similar to the Hugo family. The bright red hair that looked different to mine, the golden eyes, and the short body height. But when he started using magic…
Leo lifted his hands and poured enough energy. His magic started to form above his hand, showing everyone the pure blue liquid that came out from the air above his palms.
Water magic.
Someone from the family that specializes in fire magic, actually uses water magic…
To the entire Hugo family, Leo's existence must have been a disgrace. But he must have proven it time to time on how amazing he is at his water magic, that the Hugo family ended up liking him and sending him to a prestigious academy.
A true gold born from garbage.
Leo's water magic is already at the Knight tier, which is still very amazing for someone our age. There may be other inhuman examples like me, Arfius, or Valencia who already reached the King tier at our age. But to normal people, Knight tier is still a very rare and difficult achievement.
"Water magic, I am not entirely sure that you can use it to fly. But if you are creative enough, you can even reach the skies with it."
My words struck him like the sunlight from heaven. Suddenly he received enlightenment, and wore this bright and surprised expression.
"That did not help at all."
"Well, I tried. Okay?"
Straightforward personality… Why do I hate it so much?
