Special Chapter XI - Team 42 (part 1)

Team 42, the next strongest team after the 'ace' team.

Consisted of Jericho, Manda, a first year junior, and two third years.

The third years are from class E, but they are still third years nonetheless. They are rather capable despite the fact that they are from the E class. The first year, however…

"My lady, I have taken down the monster for you."

The junior said to Manda while holding his chest with his free hand, like a gentleman.

He is such an attention thief!

Despite his annoying personality, his looks aren't bad. His short gray hair was combed very well, and his shining blue eyes are sharp and perceptive. He is rather tall for a first year, and he is in fact quite strong.

Lerome Cameron Ammonel, a first year student from class B. Despite being in class B, he is still rather capable for a first year, and he does have quite the good looks.

His actions, however…

"I-I see… thank you."

"For you my lady, anything."

"Oi."

A call came from behind him, and he turned around slightly scared. 

Jericho is already folding her arms while staring at him sharply. Anyone can tell that she incredibly disliked this guy, but most can't tell the reason why.

Jericho's last name is also Ammonel. Feel free to guess.

"L-Lady Jericho… Are you done with your side?"

Lerome asked carefully, and Jericho walked closer.

"Haa?? How dare you ask a question first."

Jericho arrived in front of him, and he looked even more frightened.

"In that case, let me ask you a question.

Exactly what do you think you are doing here? We all agreed to split up, didn't we? Why are you here with Manda and what's your business with her? Are you sure all the monsters from your side are done?"

She said 'a question', yet she asked so many…

Poor Lemore completely stopped breathing. Manda quickly walked between them and separated them.

"Now, now! Our paths were connected just now, like how you just appeared out of nowhere, Jericho…"

Jericho knows that Manda is right, so she backed off. Before long, the two seniors also arrived at their position. Aside from them, there isn't anyone else.

The supervisor did not come with them, probably because this is the second level mission. During the second level mission, supervisors were told to give as little helping hand as possible. Since this mission is much harder than the previous, their supervisor was rather worried.

Luckily, the members of this team are all capable. Plus, it was just another Purple ranked dungeon.

The group continued their walk towards the dungeon boss room. During the walk, they did not meet any more monsters, so the entire walk was simply silent.

For some reason, Lemore felt very uncomfortable. Probably because he is walking in the middle, and there's a pair of sharp eyes staring angrily towards his neck.

Jericho is watching Lemore sharply, not letting him go anywhere close to Manda. Next to him, Manda felt even more sorry at Lemore, she patted Jericho's shoulder.

"Jay, stop…"

Jay was a special nickname that Manda uses specifically for Jericho. Hearing her special nickname being used like that, Jericho turned her sorry expression to Manda.

Lemore let out a sigh from being free from the sharp glare shackles.

After a while, they arrived at the dungeon boss room's entrance. The room was spacious, and the entrance in front of them was also quite large.

"Woah… it's a huge door."

One of the seniors mumbled. He has never seen a dungeon boss door before, which makes him rather surprised seeing it.

But, just like him, everyone is also having their first time seeing it. Not even Manda or Jericho.

"Who do you think built the door?"

The senior asked again, but nobody was able to answer. They gathered enough courage and began opening the large door, which was surprisingly easy to open.

Inside, the dungeon boss is already waiting.

"SCREEECH!!!"

As soon as they entered, the giant megapede immediately rushed at them.

Seeing the large size, everyone became frightened. They began to run backwards, except for one.

VWOOOOMM!!!!

The fire blaze was conjured, but it was not faced at the megapede.

Manda purposely fired the fire blaze at the ground, because she knew if she fired it at the megapede, it would just dodge it. She needed to stop the megapede from approaching them, so she fired the fire blaze to the ground in front of her, creating a large wall of flame that is burning brightly.

"HSsss…"

Disappointed, the megapede began moving around at the other side of the flame wall.

"It's okay, guys. I stopped the mons-… Guys?"

Manda turned around, only to notice her teammates were standing outside the door. They peeked their heads from behind the door, watching Manda staring at them confusingly.

"I'm… I'm not good with bugs…"

Jericho muttered, and Manda let out a sigh.

"Heh! So you are afraid of centipedes?"

Jericho gave an angry glare at Lemore, and he immediately looked away while regretting.

"Then why don't you go!?"

"I-I can't fight… something that big."

Everyone turned their gazes to the megapede again. The size of its foot is already as long as an adult human leg, and those tweezers are humongous. It's not just a bug, it's a huge bug.

Possibly Jericho's worst fear.

"J-Jericho?? You can just fire a wind blast at it, and it will be dead!!"

Manda said, and Jericho turned her worried gaze back to the megapede. Her hand was lifted, and she conjured a very powerful wind blast.

WOOOSH!!

The wind blast was fired at the megapede, but as soon as it got close, the megapede swirls around weirdly, dodging the wind blast.

Seeing it moving so weirdly, Jericho freaked out and hid herself behind the door.

"You missed it!!"

"I can't!!!"

Jericho screamed from behind the door, and Manda let out a sigh.

"Whatever… I'll take care of it."

"Wait."

Lemore stepped into the room, gazing into the burning flames confidently.

"I'll deal with it!"

"Y-You sure…?"

It's a Green ranked Megapede, one of the largest known bug type monsters. Despite being only a Green rank, it is still quite fast and dangerous.

"Oh by the way… the flames are dying."

Lemore returned his gaze back to the flames, and noticed that it was slowly dying out. Once the fire dies, Lemore turns his gaze towards a hissing tone that came from a spot five meters taller than him.

"HSSS…"

And he started running.

"Huaaa!!! Saaaveee meeeee!!!!!!"

"SCREEEECHHH!!!!"

Luckily, Lemore is pretty fast himself. His wind magic is quite capable, though he doesn't know how to fly, he knows how to speed himself using it. As a result, the megapede couldn't catch him, despite its insanely quick movements.

The two are chasing one another all around this giant boss room, and Manda let out a sigh.

"Rize… I wish you had a better mission than this…"
