Special Chapter XIV - End of an Era (part 1)

My foot stepped even closer into the room as my eyes were trying really hard to understand the scene.

Everything… is just purple.

The floor, the walls, even the ceilings.

What… the hell happened?

My eyes turned towards a certain spot, where the purple felt much tenser than the others. It's from a giant tub filled with something, and I can see that whatever is inside the tub is most likely the source of the curse.

As I walked closer, I immediately felt pain on my nose.

Shit. Even the air is affected.

I healed my nose and my lungs continuously, removing every curse that entered. I can breathe normally, but anyone that comes into the building will surely die after two minutes.

I walked closer, and climbed the ladders right next to the giant tub. Once my head was high enough to see the insides, I immediately understood.

It's… water.

This is a water bottle factory.

The purple light is very bright on the tub filled with water, which simply shows that the curse has dissolved itself on the water. No, it's probably intentional.

I jumped back down, and studied more of the room. There's a rack filled with books right on the edge of the room next to the tub, as well as a desk filled with notes on top of it.

I approached the desk, and was able to find a bunch of notes regarding the curse.

It was made using a certain rune that can curse anything placed above it. It was a very complex rune, which tells me that it's a very powerful rune.

There's a water bottle right next to the paper, and the purple is shining incredibly bright inside the bottle.

I see… so they cursed the content of this bottle and poured it inside the tub to make the curse dissolve…

That's just like mass producing syrup. A very painful purple syrup.

I turned towards the room again and closed my eyes. Using a ton of magic energy, I focused my target on the area surrounding me first. Ropes of light appeared from my hand and stabbed the ground, and the purple on the ground slowly disappeared.

More ropes appeared from my hands as I lifted them up. The ropes stabbed everywhere like a spider web. The ceilings, the walls, even the tub filled with cursed water from far away.

Everything is slowly getting cleansed. It took a lot of time, but I am conserving energy.

Something tells me that I will be needing them.

After cleansing the entire building, I grabbed the paper from the table and walked outside. I found the two mages who came with me waiting and talking awkwardly out there, and they noticed when I came out from the building.

"B-Bad news…"

"I know. The entire kingdom, right?"

"Y-Yes… how did you…"

"Pretty obvious. You guys drank it, there's no way other people didn't."

It was clear all along. The fact that some random mages from the mage corps headquarters was able to get their hands on it, simply implies that there might be more casualties out there.

I just hope that me messing around didn't get anyone killed. Judging from the curse, the effect can be pretty slow due to the mass production. But, it can be deadly for some.

"So… what will we do…?"

One of them asked me, and I shook my shoulder.

"Not sure. Go to the HQ and gather everyone who got affected. I'll try to do something about the entire kingdom."

"O-Okay…"

The two of them no longer questioned me and immediately started flying again. It's really satisfying watching people change their perspective about you from just showing them your capabilities. But, this is no time to be egoistic.

Can I... really heal an entire kingdom…?

Thanks to my time in that field, my healing capabilities have surely grown a thousand times sharper, but it's not stronger. It's still the same King tier, just that my perception of moving it and using it becomes better.

But in the end, it doesn't matter whether I can or cannot do it. I just have to do it, otherwise people will start dying.

VWOOSHHH!!!

I opened my shadow wings and began flying upwards. Around me, aside from the unconscious assassins, there are about twenty civilians that didn't evacuate when the fight happens. Everyone else seemed to be on a plaza on the west, not too far from this position.

All right… Let's begin.

I opened my hands, and small golden particles began falling from them. I'm dropping healing magic orbs to the ground, healing anything that it touches. This much should be enough.

I flew here and there, dropping pollen on the people on the ground. I used my perception ability on the people at the plaza, and I can tell that some of them were cursed indeed. But, it looks like my healing orbs are working, because they seem to be getting cleansed.

I work my way from the east to west and north to south. This kingdom is incredibly wide, so it will take some time.

This is… the same with the cursed field. Exactly the same with the cursed field.

There are some people on the ground who got cursed, and there are some that didn't.

The only difference is, the ratio here was like ten to one, four times smaller than the cursed field.

Another thing that makes this much easier is the fact that the amount of particles and people is nowhere close, so it is much faster than cleansing water particles on dirt.

I can fly at my normal speed, and still be able to heal hundreds of people in a span of a second…

This is amazing!!

Everyone on the ground was confused as to why they suddenly felt better. The ones that had any wounds or sickness were healed, and the ones who were cursed were cleansed. My healing magic works instantly when it touches them, and I flew at a really fast speed too.

After a while, I managed to fly above the entire Xyphon for about an hour. Xyphon is pretty large, and I had to fly back and forth to make sure I didn't miss anyone. There might be people underground or something, but that's their fault for not being above ground.

I can just find a way to heal them later. For now, mass healing is needed.

I remembered the time when I was still a newbie, before I came to Xyphon. I can only heal five people at the same time.

Look at me now, me!
