Chapter 09 - Infinite Shield

Two groups of trolls arrived in the area at the same time, and they soon found the traces of the battles. The monsters could easily see him once he left the dungeon, thanks to the blood that Jason had caused the boss to fall on his weapon and on himself. There was another reason for that… the boss could control those guys, and before dying, the beast gave the order for all of his minions to kill anyone who smelled like troll's blood.

Regardless, they could tell that Jason was in the area, but they couldn't find it. The smell of blood was too strong around and was mixed with the boss.

The monsters looked around from one side to the other in search of the target, but they found nothing except a pile of corpses. If the target couldn't be found with their eyes alone, they assumed that he was hiding at the top of the trees.

The trolls began to look around while checking the top of the trees. Before they could do anything, they suddenly heard a grunt and then the sound of a body falling… when they looked around, they saw one of their friends on the ground, with a wound on the back of their head.

The trolls looked around, trying to find Jason while showing their vicious eyes, but they failed to find any traces of him. They tried to look for him in the trees behind the fallen troll, but before they could make any progress, once again… another one of them fell dead… with another wound on their back.

The trolls began to grunt at each other in anger as if they were telling the other to do something about it, but there was nothing that they could do.

The beasts tried to resume their search, but once again, one after the other, they began to fall… the enemy was there. Most likely, he was invisible. That was the only explanation. The trolls tried to look at each other and see where the attack was going to come from, but nothing happened. The target wouldn't drop their guard there easily… the very moment they relaxed a bit to think of a solution to that problem, another one of them fell. Such a quick decision and precision… they didn't think that the humans would be able to do that. They killed a few of them already, and they didn't show much resistance.

In the end, the trolls were killed before they could ever find a single trace of Jason. Amidst the pile of corpses, Jason emerged covered in blood. He felt disgusted as he felt proud of himself… his plan worked well, and it was going to keep working since he could tell that all the trolls would head there.

"Stupid beasts, behold my mighty brain!" Jason said and then smirked. I just hope that I will find some water soon; otherwise, the first people who see me will think that I am a criminal or a psychopath."

That was just a minor concern… Jason was worried about how things were faring in other places, but he was much more worried about his own well-being, and he would do everything to ensure his survival.

In any case, just as he had expected, the trolls kept coming, but they never found him. Since the pile of corpses increased, he had an even easier time hiding in there. In the next hour, he managed to kill more than fifty of those trolls, and he leveled up twice. That wasn't the only thing he got, though.

(Congratulations! For eliminating all the enemies of a tribe on your planet, you obtained the title Merciless Hunter (F). When facing members of the same tribe nonstop, you will gain one percent more experience when defeating them. This effect will be canceled if you stop fighting for more than one hour or when you kill a creature of another species.)

"As expected, a title, and a pretty good one too… I am about to reach level thirty, so I can't wait for my next reward," Jason said and then began to walk to the forest's exit.

Things were going well, but there was one problem… actually two. Jason stopped getting SP for a while since he focused on using the bow alone. At the same time, when he mastered the bow, he got a surprise.

(You have Mastered the Infinite Bow. Dexterity+ 02. You can now use the Mana Arrow with any weapon that is a variation of the Infinite Bow.)

(You can now access the Infinite Shield)

Infinite Shield (Legendary)

A weapon that can evolve the more you use it in combat.

Regen (ALL): +1

Skill: Defensive Stance. (It decreases by half the damage caused by attacks when they are blocked successfully.)

Mastery: 0/160 TP

Reward upon mastery: Regen (All) + 100%

"Mastering this will be a pain… I will need to find a place safe enough to use the skill nonstop or a monster weak and dumb enough to get hit many times in the head by this shield," Jason thought. "Or maybe I will just have to keep enduring the same attacks over and over again… still, the effects aren't half bad."

Jason could feel his wounds healing a lot faster. It didn't take long for his HP to get back to full, and once that happened… the healing process got even faster. The shield sure had its uses, even though it looked like the lid of a pan.
