Chapter 76

Ron and the others had been given a small tower in the castle to stay, it was like a dormitory, with a common room and three other rooms, they had again divided in the same arrangement although Rin wasn't there.

Ron and Fiona were waiting in the common room, eating a nice meal which they didn't know how much they were craving after all the seafood they had been eating.

Derek and Isanna were having a meeting with the Duke about everything, the city was being restored.

"I could sleep for days, " Fiona announced leaning back on her padded chair.

"Yeah, taking possession of two birds for so long must have been tiring, " said Ron.

"You have no idea, " she said.

Just then Derek entered the room, he was looking pretty tired himself.

"Get settled we'll be staying here for a few days at least, " he announced.

"Where is mom?" asked Ron.

"Talking with the queen, apparently she has made some fans, " said Derek.

"And Marty's ship is gone, " said Derek.

"Which proves he was working against us since he lied about the fuel, " said Ron, and Derek nodded.

"Do you think you can find him?" asked Ron.

"He is not a priority for now, he must have realized we were alive and ran for it, he won't be sailing a ship anymore that's for sure, which will be punishment enough, and so he will probably be hiding in a hole somewhere for next few years but still I'll keep a word out for him, but I suspect when the old man finds out about him, he'll take care of him himself, he doesn't like traitors, " said Derek.

"The who?" asked Ron.

"Your dad?" asked Fiona at the same time.

"Never mind, I am going to bed, don't wake me, " said Derek and grabbed a whole chicken from the food table and left.

"Me too, " Fiona announced and left.

Ron also took his and Isanna's bags to the room. He was too tired to think about staying in the same room with her for now, he'll deal with it later. There was also only one bed in the room which wasn't too big either. But the bed was too enticing and he quickly took off his clothes got under the sheets and went to sleep, as the sun set outside his window.

When he woke up again he was much less tired, the sky was completely dark outside it was probably just after midnight, he thought and turned around in his bed stretching his hand out and found that the other side of his bed was occupied by someone as his hand landed on a body.

He knew who it must be, so he opened his eyes slightly and found Isanna lying in the bed on the other side with her back to him, his hand was on her waist.

She was in a deep sleep, she turned around on her back as Ron sat up, he looked at her sleeping face, she looked tired still, and she was wearing a thin white shirt. He pulled the sheets higher over her as cold winds had started coming in from the window, and left the room. He left the tower and came out in a corridor in the castle, the corridor wasn't quiet even though it was dark, which was expected since they probably had a lot of things to do.

He wanted to see the city at night and in peace so inspired by Rin, he jumped out a window and climbed to the highest point of the castle, he found a nice ledge to sit on and watch the city, the lights in the city were reflected in the water of the sea, which at night looked like a large mirror, music could be heard from different parts of the city where little celebrations were going on, he couldn't understand the language in which they were singing but the emotions were apparent, some songs also had a touch of sadness in them for the martyred.

A tapping noise came from somewhere close, he looked around for its source, it came again and he turned around and saw that there was someone in the room, the window ledge of which he was sitting on, there was no light coming from the room so he had assumed it was empty. He moved aside and the window opened, revealing Vanessa standing there.

"Sorry did I disturb you?" he asked.

"No I was awake, " she said and looked at the city too in a sad expression.

"If you don't mind me asking but are you okay? You have been looking upset since I first saw you?" he asked.

"I mean, I guess you must be missing home and a lot of people died too, " he said because she didn't answer.

"It all seems worthless, " she spoke.

"What?" he asked.

"Everything, my whole life since now, what have I been doing? Nothing, I don't know anything, I am not good at anything, I can't save anyone, I have just been living in this illusion that everything will be good in my life always, but now it all just seems dark and hopeless, " she said.

"I am sorry if am being rude and I don't know your story or anything, but it seems to me you are being a little selfish and narcissistic," said Ron.

"What!?" she asked taken aback.

"I mean, you haven't lost anyone close to you, and you still have a pretty good roof over your head, I know a girl who lost her home and both her parents in one day, and two days later she had already made up her mind what she was going to do with her life, I know you feel weak, I have felt like that too, but I am afraid you would just have to be a little brave and admit it and move on, you can't be locked up in a room and don't help anyone with the excuse that you couldn't help anyone so you are too depressed by it," Ron knew he had gone too far, he knew he had vented someone else's anger on her, but he also meant it.

"How dare you? You have no idea, Get lost!" Vanessa shouted. Ron apologized and hurried off, leaving behind a fuming lioness.

He felt bad for what he had said, he could have just stayed quiet. He left the castle to check out the city, he tried to mingle with the crowd because he was sure they didn't want to see another human in their streets for the next century. He stayed in the shadows and watched the celebrations, the dance, and the singing. The half-breeds were very much like humans, they liked celebrating in big crowds with drinks and music. Ron entered a big building from which a lot of noise was coming, there were a lot of people gathered there, eating and drinking.

Someone clapped on his shoulder and he turned around in surprise.

"What are you doing standing here alone, come and join us," a very drunk Dean grabbed him and pulled him to a table in the corner. The table was packed, there were some he didn't recognize, some he did like James, Emily, and Wiess. James was happy to see him too.

They were loudly talking and laughing telling old stories. Emily and Weiss weren't drinking and seemed a little bit annoyed as the guys got more drunk. They escaped the table when they saw their chance, Ron also followed them out of the building into the street which was much quieter now.

"Don't like the noise much?" he asked them.

"No, it's just we don't usually hang out with them, it was the first time they invited us to drink along so we aren't used to it," said Emily who looked like was being nice to him because she hadn't reacted nicely when she had first seen her, while he was there just to help.

"Yeah, Weiss doesn't go out much anyway, even with us, we used to be enemies before all of this actually," she said.

"Don't talk about me," hissed Weiss and walked off into the night.

"She is not a people person, I should go with her, people are too drunk today and she has a newfound temper and taste of violence, see you later, and thank you for saving the city," said Emily and followed after her.

Ron went back to the castle since he had nothing else to do, he went to FIona's room, hoping she was awake too, her door was unlocked, so he entered and found her sleeping in her bed. She turned on her back and her sheets moved down a little, and her breasts popped out. Ron heard someone moving outside so he looked out and found that it was Isanna.

"Ron, is Fiona awake?" she asked.

"No she is still sleeping, I was just checking on her," he said closing her door.

"I wanted to talk to you, could you come to the room?" she asked. She was being too polite so Ron nodded and went to their room. Isanna closed the door behind her, Ron turned and looked, she was looking down at the floor leaning against the door, and her face was full of sadness, which made Ron's heartache suddenly and he felt some of the anger slip from his mind and his resolve break.

"I am sorry," she finally managed to speak, her voice very croaky.

"For what?" he asked.

"For everything," she said.

"I don't know what you mean," he said.

"For all the unnecessary trouble you faced because you were my son, for sending you away, and for being a bad mother," she said, tears coming out of her eyes now.

"It's fine, as long as you understand and know how I felt," he said.

"Then do you forgive me?" she asked looking up, surprised.

"I already did, but it will take some time to build back trust and till then I want you to go back to your normal self," he said.

"Thank you," she said.
