More of the system

Oscar rolled out of the way, narrowly avoiding the sharp fangs of the two-headed wolf. He swung his sword, slicing through one of the wolf's heads. Just as he thought he had gained the upper hand, Poison covered the remaining head, preparing to strike. Seeing this, Oscar felt a wave of panic and quickly moved away. Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself. "That was close," he muttered.

The wolf lunged at him again, its deadly teeth aiming to tear him apart. Oscar dodged swiftly and drove his sword into its paw. The beast let out a painful howl before retaliating, sinking its fangs into his arm. Oscar screamed in agony.

Ding!

[30% HP Lost]

Gritting his teeth, Oscar kicked the wolf's head away. He glanced at his bleeding arm, his vision momentarily blurring from the pain. Time seemed to slow as the wolf charged again. Oscar tightened his grip on his sword, extended it forward, and closed his eyes, bracing for impact. A sickening slice echoed through the battlefield.

Opening his eyes, he saw blood splatter as the wolf staggered back, one of its heads severed. Breathing heavily, Oscar focused on the remaining head of the two-headed beast. It snarled at him, eyes burning with rage.

Despite his exhaustion, Oscar refused to give in. He rose from the ground, pushing past his pain. His body ached, bruises forming across his skin, but he knew he had to finish this. How own fate of the dungeonhung in the balance of him killing this monster.

With a determined battle cry, he charged once more. The wolf met his advance with a flurry of claws and fangs. Oscar dodged each attack, his mind singularly focused on victory. Blow after blow, he chipped away at the creature's defenses.

The battle felt endless, but Oscar refused to back down. Then, with one final, decisive strike, he drove his sword deep into the wolf's remaining head. A deafening roar filled the air before the beast collapsed, its dark form dissolving into the shadows.

Breathless and battered, Oscar stood victorious. Relief and triumph washed over him—he had survived. He had emerged stronger, more resilient than before. But his journey was far from over. The mysteries of the dungeon still awaited him, and the enigmatic blue box beckoned.

Ding!

[Level Up: 15]

A satisfied smirk crossed Oscar's face as he glanced at the notification. "Nice," he murmured. However, another message soon appeared.

[New Skill Unlocked: Poison Immunity]

His eyes widened in surprise. A passive ability that protected him from poison? That was invaluable. Grateful for the unexpected boon, Oscar felt more prepared than ever for the challenges ahead.

A purple gate materialized before him. Without hesitation, he stepped through it. The moment he did, he found himself back in his room. Fatigue overwhelmed him, and he collapsed onto his bed, drifting into a deep sleep.

---

Ding!

[Notification: Due to sleeping in your own bed, all status effects have been healed. HP fully restored. All stat points replenished. All damage recovered.]

Oscar groggily opened his eyes, reading the notification. A wave of relief flooded him—he felt completely rejuvenated. Stretching, he swung his legs over the side of the bed, feeling ready to face the day.

"Hey, Oscar! Help!" a voice called from downstairs. "Get your ass here!"

"Yes, Auntie!" he responded, half-singing. Sighing, he muttered to himself, "Guess I'll be doing farm work alongside my daily quests."

With a resigned shrug, he headed downstairs. The chores were mundane, but as he worked, a sense of nostalgia washed over him. The sights and sounds of the farm reminded him of simpler times, before dungeons and battles had taken over his life.

Still, he couldn't shake the anticipation bubbling within him. The blue box held secrets yet to be unlocked, and the adventure ahead excited him.

---

That night, as he lay in bed, another notification appeared before him.

[New Feature Unlocked: Skill Tree]

"Skill tree?" Oscar mused. "What's that?"

[The Skill Tree is a feature that allows you to unlock and upgrade various abilities as you progress. Think of it as a branching system where each path represents different skills: combat, magic, agility, and more. You can invest points or meet certain requirements to unlock new abilities tailored to your playstyle.]

"Oh, that's cool. Thanks, System," Oscar said absentmindedly. He had taken to calling the blue box "System" since he didn't know what else to name it.

Opening the interface, he marveled at the possibilities before him. Each branch held skills that could shape his journey. Did he want to refine his swordsmanship? Master magic? Enhance his speed? The choices were endless.

As he navigated the menu, another option appeared alongside the Skill Tree.

[Choose Your Path: Hero's Way or Monster's Way]

The Hero's Way depicted a noble human figure, while the Monster's Way showed a similar figure but... different. Something about the latter intrigued him.

"I pick you," Oscar said, selecting the Monster's Way. He didn't know why, but something inside him resonated with that choice.

As soon as he made his selection, a new path unfolded before him—one shrouded in mystery and power. Unlike the traditional hero's journey of justice and valor, the Monster's Way promised something else.

A different kind of strength.

A path less traveled.

And Oscar was ready to walk it.
