"We should head home," Jane said.
"Isn't it too early?, besides I need to update my note" I said causally.
"Well, it seems everyone is heading home. The school is going to be empty soon"
"Trust me, you wouldn't want to be among the last people to leave" she added packing up her things.
I was also about to return my book to my backpack. When my phone beeped, it was a text message from my mom.
"Do not leave the school, I'll come to pick you up".
"I can't leave Jane". I said with a sigh.
And she gave me that confusing look.
"My Mom is coming to pick me up". I said, showing her the text on my phone.
"Oh okay. Well I guess I should get going," She wasn't sounding happy at all, and I wasn't either.
"Do you have something to take care of at home?" I asked her, hoping we could both wait for my mom together.
"Not really, but grandma's coming home today, so I have to help my mom arrange some stuffs before they come home."
She said, picking up her bag. "C'mon walk me to the hallway," she said pulling my hands.
"I will definitely," I said standing up.
She smiled and started walking towards the exit.
"Won't you at least wait?" I said groaning.
She turned back and gave a short laugh, while I half ran towards her.
"Do you have any idea, why the masses are protesting?" I asked.
"I think, it's inflammation, am not sure though"
"Uhhhh, yeah that could be a good reason," I said in agreement.
After a brisk walk, we were already at the hallway, so I turned to hug her goodbye.
"Take care of yourself and call me when you get home," I said after I pulled out of her warm embrace.
"Sure thing, stay safe". She said, before turning to leave.
I turned around. The hallway was empty. I was the only living being there at the moment.
Well, I might as well head to the library to complete my note....
Five minutes later I was back to the lecture hall, where I kept my bag. At least it wasn't as empty as the hallway. Some students were still hanging around, chatting their time away.
I connected my headphones and played my favorite song.
Humming to it, I walked slowly to the library, which was some meters away from the lecture hall.
****
I was at my favorite spot at the library, getting some work done, but my brain couldn't stop creating pictures of Prince in my head.
When I tried, to shut her out, her voice messed with my brain.
And it was getting too frustrating. As much as I wanna deny that I don't like her, every part of my body doesn't agree with it.
I know I have a crush on her. But this is going to be between my soul and me.
I guess I successfully managed to shut her out.
Because I felt at ease suddenly. Some seconds later.
I felt someone's presence. I mean there were people with me at the library.
But where I was situated, I was the only one.
Raising my head, there was Prince.
She wasn't facing me, but I could tell she was the one, from her posture and her outfits.
I found myself holding my breath. How could she be in my thoughts and then appear here all of a sudden?.
And of all parts of the library, she was at my favorite spot.
She seemed engrossed, searching through the rolls of books obviously looking for something.
"I could help you " I blurted out without thinking twice. Regretting it almost instantly.
She turned, as though trying to recognize me or something.
"Have we met before?" She asked walking towards my desk.
I found words hanging in my throat.
"Yes, earlier today..... Uber" I said fidgeting.
"Ohh.. Mia..right?" She asked with a slight smile.
I nodded "yes" in response and smiled back.
"So.. you sure you can help me out?" She asked quizzically as she dropped some huge books on my desk.
"I could try.." I said, with a slight smile.
Standing up, I walked towards the shelves.
"What kind of books" I was expecting something about marketing but I still asked anyway. She might be looking for a novel.
Who knows.
"Something about mystic figures" she said seating on the seat I just stood up from.
"Uhhhhh okay.."
That request was odd, but I wasn't ready to get myself involved in something that was her personal business.
I started my search. I know the library well. We do have such books, but they weren't on this section.
The type of books here, are mostly science and space related.
"I'll have to check section vii" I said, turning around.
"Ohh okay" she said, relaxing more on the seat.
I was expecting her to stand up and you know want to walk with me to the section vii.
But that doesn't look like something she wanted to do or was about to do .
So I just smile and walked towards section vii.
While walking towards the rolls and columns of the huge shelves. I kept wondering why she was here.
And at my favorite spot. Was she following me ?.
No way, A whole Prince won't be interested in my small boring life. It could just be some random coincidence.
Once at section vii, I started to scan around for books. She said mystic figures, she didn't specify.
So I think I'll just pick one of each. It's mainly literature or arts student that come to this parts of the library.
As a computer science student, I have no business with this place at all, and I keep wondering what business Prince have to do with this place.
After collecting all the books, which I considered would be useful to her, I walked back to my area.
And there she was, going through her phone, her gaze down, her long thick black lashes made it look like she was asleep.
She sat with a commanding presence, her athletic build and sharp jawline excluding confidence. Her short hair is styled with a hint of ruggedness, framing her striking features, her full lips set in a firm line.
"You're back already" her voice interrupted my thoughts. Leaving me embarrassed.
"Uhh, yeah " I said walking towards her. Regret hitting me as I realized I had been standing and staring at her for a while now.
"You didn't specify, so I brought one of everything I could find" I said dropping the piles of huge books on the desk.
"Hmmm.. Thanks" She said as she turned the book towards her.
" Well.... I'm just interested in one" She added her hands running through each book covers, her eyes obviously scanning for something.
"Ahhh ahh" she said , pulling out one of the bookshops
I squinted my eyes to see the title of the book.
"The Bloodline Legacy ."
