39: Kindergarten V

About three weeks has passed since they have electricity in the house. It made everything much easier for everyone do do anything, really. What excited the transmigrator most was the fact that they have a fridge now, so that means fresh food! And by fresh food, he meant canned milk that won't go bad after they opened it for a few days.

Instead of sleeping on the couch in the living room, they moved into the room downstairs because the bunker ventilation is working. The crib still remained in one corner of the bedroom, and Jay's designated sleeping spot was in between his teen parents since they didn't want him to sleep walk anywhere.

It didn't stop the baby from rolling off the bed when he interacted with the system at wee hours of the morning.

As seen currently, Jay is outside of their bedroom, on a random shelf with expired canned goods, at six in the morning according to the clock on the wall. He remembered his caretakers buying a bunch of clocks and hung them inside the house as part of their decoration plan.

The transmigrator just finished replaying the memory of the people who built this place. There's only so much he can do other at night. Sure, he can sleep, but he can always nap throughout the day and take some private time to interact with the system at night.

How did he get on the random shelf again?

Oh, right. He was reading the labels on some of the canned food. These things will last two centuries, which kind of scared Jay because edible things shouldn't last that long, especially the baby food.

To think that his parents fed him that... The fact the very old baby food didn't taste that bad made it even harder for the transmigrator to process that thought.

Why was he reading labels on the shelf?

Because he already replayed the scene of the couple fighting several times. They never used each other's names once, so Jay didn't know their name, but he learned a few more useless things like the house was a nuclear bunker and there's a clean water tank underground, so that's why the water was still running okay when they first got here.

Talking about water, he's getting a bit thirsty. However, he's still sitting on the shelf, so he just had to wait for his parents to come out to fetch him. At least the light inside the bunker is on.

His violet eyes moved from the ceiling light to his parents' bedroom door. Jay wanted to leave it open in the memory function to see if he could have it open in real life, but he couldn't interact with any objects inside the memory. He phased through the door like he was a ghost.

When the memory function ended, the System teleported the baby to wherever Jay was when he was in the memory.

So now we have the current problem of him being stuck on a shelf.

The baby let out a sigh, and he looked over the edge. It's at least four feet above ground, so there's no way he could jump and not break anything.

Well, he could scream to wake up his caretakers, but he hates the sound of a baby crying.

Jay had no choice but to pick the next best option: throwing stuff off the shelf at the door.

Since he's one year old, he doesn't know how far he could throw or how heavy he could lift, but Jay was more than happy to give it a try.

Taking a hold of a regular sized canned peach with both of his hands, the transmigrator slowly picked it up off the floor. It sure feels heavy, but his lips pulled into a grin when he successfully chucked the metal can off the shelf.

Crash!

The poor can was still in perfect condition, so the baby scooted closer to another can. Instead of picking it up, Jay simply kicked another canned peach off the shelf.

It landed on the floor with a bang, and the cylinder can rolled into a stop next to its predecessor.

Jay was about to push another can off the shelf when he heard a bang. His eyes moved to the bedroom door, which was slammed open so far that the door knob hit the wall.

The Red King's form was ready for a fight, with a knife in his hand while his other hand was clenched in a fist. Relief flooded over his expression, making his frown dropped. His jet black hair was sticking up in all directions, and his white T-shirt was still crumbled from sleep.

"Jay, he's out here!" The teenage boy called for his partner.

Light footsteps were heard running from inside the bedroom, and the teenage girl moved pass her companion. A pair of knives were hovering in the air behind her, her signature move of offense.

"There you are!" JJ cired out as she rushed to the shelf, almost stepping on the two cans on the floor. She's also wearing white T-shirt which Jay is pretty sure it belongs to the teenage boy.

Both of her knives feel to the floor as her hands gently held the baby's torso and picking him up from the shelve.

"How did he even get out here?" The Red King sighed before he picked up his partner's knives. "It's the second time this week. It's only Wednesday."

"Did you lock the bedroom door?" JJ hugged the baby to herself, and her eyes glared at his male caretaker.

The Red King pressed his lips into a hard line, then he shook his head. "I forgot. Hey, don't blame me! It's the middle of the night!"

"It's not my fault you showered so late." The teenage girl grumbled back.

The transmigrator giggled when he's being swayed from side to side as his female caretaker took him back into the bedroom.

"Are you hungry, Kaon?" JJ took a seat on her side of the bed, placing the toddler on her thighs. "We can go into town and get you some custard tarts. How does that sound?"

With the promise of his current favorite food, the baby nodded and smiled at her. Then, he crawled off her so that he could get his water bottle from the nightstand.

Deep down, the transmigrator was glad that the system didn't flag him for OOC when he "sleep walks" almost every night.

_______

Grandma Ella greeted them at the bakery. While JJ was talking to the old woman, Jay was standing on his own in the bakery, and his male caretaker isn't far from him.

The transmigrator was fiddling with the buttons on his jacket to pass time, and his eyes were scanning the store. It's pretty empty at this time of day, so there's nothing else to do.

Even though he's a kid, Jay doesn't want to make a mess of anything by playing with the store shelves or running around.

He forgot his Rubik's cube at home, so he had to be content with his jacket buttons. Just as he's about to space out, his violet eyes caught sight of a familiar face of freckles and brilliant green eyes looking into the bakery.

It was that kid who Jay gave a silver to!

The kid had cleaner clothes now, and they're dressed for the chilly weather, having a proper jacket and all that. Behind the child, a brunette woman was hunched over as she followed the child.

Just like that, Jay found himself running towards the kid. He didn't understand why, but he felt a sense of protectiveness. That lunatic woman also broke the baby's wrist once, so he's making sure that child is safe from her—

"Ayo, where are you going, little guy?" The Red King was walking after his toddler, and his hands went down to pick up Jay.

The baby promptly slapped his male caretaker's hand away, and he continued on his journey. Once he's in front of the bakery's entrance, he found beautiful green eyes staring into his soul.

"Eden..." The Lunatic woman patted the child's head. "Let's go."
