The two of them stayed up talking for hours that night, trying to think of ways to best face the next few months.
"Maybe I should leave court for a while." Lucas said unhappily. "It doesn't help our cause if Tobin and everyone else always see us spending time together in the library. Especially since as you say, the king has become even more suspicious since he recovered from that illness. If I'm not around, I'm less likely to be front of his mind."
"No, you can't do that." Celia shook her head forcefully. "I can't do this, I can't wake up and face whatever each day brings me, without you. I need you here."
He bobbed his head and sighed, cracking his knuckles. "You're probably right. I couldn't bear to leave you alone here in your condition anyway, and I don't want to be away from our children."
