Truth and Doubt

Chapter Twenty-Nine:

Sage's Residence

"Where is your wife?" as soon as I came, Netro immediately approached me and quickly asked me.

"She's..." what should I say? That my wife ran away after we had an argument? I don't think it would be good to let them know about our personal issues. "She's at home." I lied.

"You're lying." Sai said as she approaches us. "She went out and now I couldn't sense her anywhere."

"That's impossible." I spoke. "Mond watched over her."

"And yet she's gone." Sai replied.

"That's really impossible! I knew she was safe." I firmly stated even though doubt slowly emerging.

"Then, how can you explain this?" Sai said and look passed through me. "What happened?" she directly asked the person who suddenly came.

I quickly turned around only to meet Redmond. "Wh-what are you doing here?" I asked with mixed fear.

"I'm sorry, but... Lady Shu was gone."

Silence suddenly surrounds us all and at this moment I don't really know what else should I think.

"We better move before they've done something." Sai said that breaks the silence. "Haimon, let's go!" she said when I didn't move.

"You need to brace yourself, Mon." Norward said as he taps my shoulder. "We need to go now."

I deeply take a deep breath before I nodded and followed them out of the house.

Del Gazini's Residence

We are now at the front gate of our house because I said to Kanik that I wanted to go home. I just wanted to home and ask directly Haimon about the thing that Kanik told me. Though I don't know if I got the courage to ask him or I should just pretend that I don't hear anything from Kanik and live like we used to be.

"Take this," Kanik said as he handed me his calling card. "You can call me anytime if you are ready to know the truth."

I look at it longer enough that he took my hand instead and put it there. I look up to him with surprised and spoke. "Do I really need to call you?" I asked even though he already told me earlier from his house that I need to find out my past life to know the whole truth.

"As I told you earlier, you need to find out the whole truth." He spoke. "The truth that Haimon hidden from you, and I know you wanted it too. And knowing Haimon, he won't let you learn the whole truth. He will pretend in the end just to let you stay blinded from the truth, and I cannot allow it anymore."

"Why?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why do I need to know the truth if my life is fine now, right?"

"Are you sure about that?" he asked that I couldn't answer. "Because if you're really fine then why of all the women he knew he chooses you to be his wife?"

"Because he loves me," I replied though doubts suddenly pass deep into my heart and I cannot stop the pain emerging out of me.

"Just ask him directly and see if he tells you the truth."

Afterwards...

"You just let her go, like that?" Medea asked after Shu Tokino went out of my car, she was the one who drives us instead of Maury because she had to shield us.

"Yes. For now." I simply answered. "Let's go."

I heard her sigh deeply. "Alright, if that is what you want." She said before she drives away.

I just silently look away and simply look up into the night sky.

Del Gazini's Residence

I hurriedly head home after I sense Shu Tokino to our house and there she was, sitting on our sofa with a deep thought. She didn't even notice me even I stand near to her.

"Shu?" I called and that was the only time she notices me.

We silently look at each other, and I know we're weighing our emotions the reason why we stay quiet for a while before we speak up.

"I'm sorry." We both said in unison and with that we smile with each other.

"I'm glad you're back." I spoke.

"Uhm," she said and nodded.

"Ahm, where did you go?" I asked even though I hesitate at first.

"Just around here." She said though I feel like she's hiding something from me.

"Okay." I simply answered and notice she's all dry. "But it rained earlier, where did you take shelter?"

"Somewhere there." she answered as her eyes avoids me. "I need to rest." She said as she stands up.

"But..." I stop myself rather than to ask her more. "Alright. Take a rest now. I'll follow you after." I said that she just nodded before she went to our room. I take a deep breath before I took my phone and called Sai.

"What happened?" Sai immediately asked me as she answered my call.

"She went home fine."

"Are you sure?" she asked and I couldn't answer her question. "You have a doubt." She directly pointed it.

I take a deep breath. "Yes, I had my doubts but I trust my wife so---"

"Trust won't help you, Haimon." Sai cuts me off. "It will be their greatest weapon against you, if you left her into the dark. Then, someone will enlighten her and you won't like it if they get it first." She said and it marks to my mind.

Because no matter what I do, I can no longer hide the truth from Shu Tokino even if all I want is to protect her as I promised her before. Especially now she is my wife I can never hide my real identity even if I try to avoid it.

Meanwhile...

As I left my husband, Haimon at the living room, I don't know why I feel at ease soon I got away from him. I know and I can sense it, he had doubts about my answer but he chose not to ask and he just let me. And I feel fine.
