Chapter XLVI: Future Decisions and My Destiny

After Gabriel's intervention, I continued to reflect on the things I needed to do while writing my resignation letter with melancholy. I hope tomorrow will be a brighter day when I can figure out what to do next. Immediately after that, I went to the bedroom where I fell asleep with my head on Cesare's shoulder, grateful to have someone so strong beside me to support me.

The next morning, I set off to the Cathedral to perform my liturgical duties. During the Mass, I was so absorbed in my own thoughts that I forgot where I was, causing concern among the others.

"Antonio, the sermon..."

"What? Oh, y-yes... Now..."

During the short sermon I addressed to the gathered faithful, I got lost in my thoughts again so much that I began to take excessively long pauses. Well, it seems I need some time for reflection and to rid myself of my doubts.

"Antonio, what's wrong with you? What happened to you today at the Mass?" Cesare asked me worriedly.
