Chapter XLVII: The Path Ahead

Days passed like any other. Over time, I began to get used to not having a secretary, and I was glad to hear that Marcus and Gabriel were getting along better than ever. I wouldn't have believed things would improve between them so much after the events of Saturday, but it seems I was mistaken.

Meanwhile, something troubled Cesare more than usual. I had never seen him so worried before, and I couldn't figure out what was occupying his mind so heavily.

"Cesare, may I come in?" I asked, knocking on the door of the palace library where Cesare was.

For the past few days, Cesare hadn't been speaking to anyone, not even to me. I believe something from his past is bothering him, or something from his present at the Vatican... I can't let him be emotionally shattered like this. I have to do something, and I know exactly what.
