Chapter LX: Shadows from the Past

Slowly but surely, things have become better than ever. The union of the states, the union of the Churches, the union of the people, everything is going according to plan and according to morality, if I may say so. What bothers me somewhat is the fact that I will have to travel to the Vatican for a while, as I don't know what I will have to go through in that place.

I returned with Cesare and Gabriel to Wallachia, the kingdom where we stayed for almost a month and where we spent a large part of our time, witnessing events we never expected to encounter. Honestly, the last thing I want to see before I leave is someone from my past.

Before reaching the episcopal palace, I was informed by one of the palace servants that I was urgently awaited by two people at the palace who wanted to speak with me. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a visit on the penultimate day of my stay in Wallachia, but I guess I need to be realistic and accept such a visit.
