"I'm sorry, Laurene. The timing was too off. I didn't know," Zaiden quickly apologized, regret lacing his words. He looked at me with an expression of deep remorse.

I stopped sobbing and looked at him. "Zaiden.." I managed to whisper.

He wiped away my tears. "I have to confess something. I know it's not connected to what's happening to you now, but I feel like this is the only time we can talk like this," I wiped the tears from my cheeks and just waited for him to speak again.

"I'm sorry for not realizing that it was you who I met that time when you were in your first year. I mean, it's not that I didn't know you back then, I just didn't immediately remember that you were the girl I saved from a group. I didn't even manage to look at you because I was in a hurry." He confessed.

"You remembered?" He smiled and nodded.
