Chapter 33

Today's host Z smiled and said, "This is my friend, Miss X. Like Mr. Beck, she also came back from the United States to start a business. I made the decision to invite her to the banquet today."

Miss X stood up and reached out her hand to Beck, saying, "Hello, Mr. Beck. I'm Xenia."

Beck smiled faintly and shook her hand, saying, "Hello Xenia."

Xenia smiled lightly and said, "I've heard of your name in the United States, Beck

Mr. Z interjected, "Oh? Miss Xenia graduated from Cornell University in the United States. Isn't it so coincidental that you two are alumni?"

Beck replied, "I graduated from Columbia University."

Someone next to them laughed and said, "They are all famous foreign university students, amazing."

Xenia smiled lightly and extended her hand to Summer Mu, saying, "Manager Mu, nice to meet you."

Even at first glance, she was amazed by her outstanding appearance sitting alone in a corner. At this moment, when they officially met, Summer Mu was still slightly stunned.

Xenia was so beautiful. Black hair and jade face, clear eyes and red lips. It was a rare and dignified beauty. Judging from her attire, one cannot discern the brand, but the texture was excellent and the style was exquisite. And her temperament was very good, her eyes were like warm black gemstones, staring at you, it made your heart flutter. Summer Mu held her hand as if holding a piece of soft jade.

Touching her gentle gaze, Summer Mu's heart trembled silently as she smiled and said, "Hello Xenia."

"Mr. Beck and Miss Xenia , please take your seats. "Mr. Z said.

Xenia looked up at Beck and bowed slightly, gesturing for the lady to go ahead. Xenia smiled and lowered her gaze, which was already shimmering with waves. The two of them walked over and sat down together.

A strong thought flashed through Summer Mu's heart: These two people look so compatible!

Cheers and laughter resounded loudly.

From the perspective of Summer Mu, Beck, who blushed slightly after drinking, sat among a group of merchants, appearing even more handsome and dignified. He occasionally chatted softly with Xenia beside him. The two of them didn't know what they had said, and Xenia's face turned red, her eyes shining brightly.

Mr. X offered a toast and also wanted to toast Xenia. Xenia waved her hand to indicate that she would not drink, but Mr. X refused and wanted to persuade her again. Xenia furrowed her brow slightly, and Mr. Z spoke up to stop her: " Beck, why don't you have a good eye for things?" Beck smiled slightly at this moment and raised his glass to smooth things out: "Mr. X is too biased and only drinks with beautiful ladies. Why don't you have a few more drinks with my partner?"

X had a laugh, so this small incident was considered a thing of the past. Xenia poured a cup of hot tea with her own hands and handed it to Beck, whispering, "Beck, are you okay?"

Beck smiled faintly and said, 'It's okay.' However, Xenia reached out and gently shook his arm, indicating that he couldn't drink anymore. Beck glanced at her hand, smiled, and nodded.

Summer Mu kept smiling and socializing with the people next to her. Despite the hustle and bustle around her, she suddenly felt a little dazed. Her heart was like a bottle of bitter water spilled over, light, astringent, silently flowing away. Just a few times, she felt Beck's gaze fall on her.

During the meal, for some reason, they talked about the study experiences of those two people in the United States. Suddenly someone asked, "Manager Mu is so young and promising, must he also graduated from a prestigious school?" So everyone turned their attention to Summer Mu.

Summer Mu paused for a moment and spoke up, 'I didn't...'

Beck suddenly interrupted her and said, "I can invite someone like Manager Mu to help. What I value is not insignificant things like education."

Everyone was taken aback, then smiled and said yes. This topic had been brought over.

Summer Mu remained silent and looked up. Beck happened to be looking at her as well. The two looked at each other and then separated.

The dinner party was over, and everyone went downstairs. Mr. Z sent a car to take Beck and Summer Mu to the hotel where they were staying. Xenia also had a dedicated driver waiting, and surprisingly, a Bentley arrived.

Everyone asked the lady to go first. Xenia walked up to the car, but then turned around and said, "Beck, regarding what you just said about the local entrepreneurship preferential policies in the City."

Beck walked over and continued talking with her.

Summer Mu stood still, looking up at the crystal covered fountain at the hotel entrance and the neon lights flowing with light and shadow, which was a bit distracting.

After a while, Beck walked back and Bentley also drove away. He glanced at Summer Mu and said, "Let's go."

The driver in the car was Mr. Z's person, so naturally the two of them wouldn't talk much. Beck closed his eyes all the way, while Summer Mu looked out the window at the night view of the City. After arriving at the hotel, Summer Mu went to check in first, and the two of them took the elevator upstairs.

There was no one else in the elevator, it looked quiet and spacious. Beck spoke up, "Go to bed early, there are still many things to do tomorrow."

Summer Mu: "Hmm."

Seeing her unusually silent expression, Beck also remained silent.

"Ding - "At the entrance of the elevator, the two of them walked out and entered their respective rooms.

The hotel was previously booked by Beck, with a five-star rating. Summer Mu had never stayed in such a good hotel in her life, magnificent, clean and elegant. But she laid in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. After a while, she realized that she was hungry. Where did she eat well at the dinner party just now.

She got up and got out of bed, leaving the room.

After Beck returned to his room, he took a shower, laid in bed, and picked up his phone. The first thing he saw was the phone number that Xenia had just left for him. The beautiful and generous appearance of Xenia came to his mind. Although her background was not yet clear, being respectfully honored as a guest by Mr. Z and others, this woman had a significant background. What's rare was that she was still a woman who made people feel very comfortable.

After a moment of silence, the image of Summer Mu being particularly quiet yet absent-minded at the banquet today appeared before his eyes. He threw away his phone, picked up the internal phone in the room, dialed the number of the next room, but before he could connect, a habitual smile had already appeared on his lips.

However, no one answered.

——

Not far from the hotel, there was a small street. At this moment, the lights were on and various late night snack stalls were set up, with fragrances wafting straight into people's noses. Summer Mu felt familiar as she looked at it, so she found a cleaner stall and sat down. She ordered grilled skewers and beer, and chatted with the boss about daily life, forgetting all those messy things. It's really enjoyable.

Who knew that halfway through eating, she received a text message from Beck: "Where are you?"

Summer Mu looked at it for a while and replied, "I'm having supper."

"Address?"

She sent him the location.

Not long after, he walked over from the street corner. Summer Mu bit a potato and looked at him through the dim sky. He changed out of his suit and wore a dark blue casual jacket, unexpectedly handsome and clear looking.

Summer Mu didn't want to watch too much.

He walked up to her desk, scanned the surroundings, and finally sat down.

"What's up? "Summer Mu asked.

He looked at her coldly and said, "In the middle of the night, in a strange city, if you run alone, who will be responsible if something happens?"

Summer Mu smiled and said, "I'm sorry. I think it's quite close to the hotel and there are many people here. Based on my rich experience of eating late night snacks, it's okay. So... would you like to have some too?"

"No need."

Summer Mu no longer advised, but ordered another eggplant that he liked to eat. After baking for a while and serving it, she took off a pair of chopsticks, carefully ground them, and handed them to him, "Try it? This restaurant tastes pretty good."

He glanced at her, reached out to take it, and tasted it.

The two of them just ate supper like this, without anyone mentioning tonight's events or Xenia. Under the soft streetlights, the smoke of barbecue rose gracefully. Someone rode a bicycle past them lightly, and Summer Mu would occasionally look up and smile at him, enjoying a delicious and satisfying meal.

Beck originally came quietly, but he didn't expect that in the end, it would be so natural, like a young man, to accompany her to eat barbecue on the streets of the city. And in his heart, surprisingly, there was a calmness like a light.

After finishing, Summer Mu wanted to give money, but Beck paid for the order. The two of them walked along the dimly lit path, all the way to the quiet road at night, and then to the brightly lit hotel building. Summer Mu suddenly remembered the last night they met in J city, and walked quietly all the way. Then he mercilessly stabbed her.

If this man didn't speak, you would never be able to see through his heart.

At the door of Summer Mu's room, she smiled and looked up at him, "Good night, Beck."

Beck looked at her with eyes as dark as night.

"Good night, Summer."
