Chapter 580 Endless Time Loop

Yes, the Imperius Curse!

When Andy was practising this curse, he had Hermione cast it on him a few times so that he could experience what it felt like to be under its influence.

So Andy knows exactly what it would feel like.

The person under the curse will feel as if their mind has gone blank, all thoughts and responsibilities will disappear, and they will feel an overwhelming sense of happiness and euphoria.

When the spell caster gives an order, the person under the spell will hear a voice and then involuntarily do what the spell caster tells them to do.

Andy can still think, so he is not under an Imperius Curse.

But the feeling of comfort is exactly the same as if he were under an Imperius Curse.

Andy dares not to test it further and quickly withdraws his wand.

This is too dangerous!

Even if nothing unusual happens now, Andy instinctively feels that something is not quite right.

"Hoo..."

Andy let out a breath of relief.

'Is this what it feels like to be in the dimension of death?'

"This..."

Andy suddenly didn't know how to express himself.

If this is true...

Is this feeling of happiness created by magic really happiness?

What's the difference between this and being brain-dead?

But on second thought...

Most of a person's happiness comes from two aspects: material contentment and spiritual contentment.

But this is only a human perspective.

Perhaps in the eyes of beings from a higher dimension, material and spiritual pursuits are illusory.

Material things are just objects made up of different atoms.

As for spiritual fulfilment... to be honest, it is nothing more than the self-satisfaction that comes from accomplishing something or obtaining something.

Andy had always reminded himself before:

When exploring a world like the 'dimension of death', he must never bring in human perspectives and concepts, or else he will only reach the wrong conclusions.

At this moment, Andy was really curious about what the world behind the curtain was like.

Did it exist from the beginning?

Or was it created by someone?

'Maybe that mirror will offer a possible entry point!'

The energy emanating from the mirror did not feel as strong as the one from the archway.

Andy glanced at the system panel.

At the moment, the [Will] attribute has been increased to seven points.

'Maybe after I increase my [Constitution] to seven points, I can study the mirror,' Andy thought to himself.

As for the time being...

After taking one last look at the archway, Andy turned around and left.

Right now, Andy really didn't have the ability to study the archway.

***

Once again, a black door opened.

It was the Hall of Prophecy!

Andy raised an eyebrow; there really wasn't anything to see here.

But Andy had noticed before that there was a door near the 53rd shelf.

Andy walked over and pushed open the door.

It was a beautiful room bathed in the sparkling light of precious stones. Clocks of all kinds filled the walls, the floor, and the tables, and the whole room was alive with the sound of their ticking.

The Time Room!

Andy was delighted.

Apart from the archive and the office, the Time Room was the place Andy really wanted to see on this trip to the Department of Mysteries.

The mystery of time!

This 'question' had been troubling Andy for months.

As soon as he entered the Time Room, Andy saw the familiar crystal glass dome—inside the dome, the process of ageing and rebirth was repeated endlessly as if time were being constantly looped.

The last time Andy was here, he didn't particularly feel anything.

But this time...

After using the Time Turner so many times and experiencing so many time travels, Andy suddenly had a different feeling when he looked at the glass dome again.

The cycle of time!

'When using the Time Turner... did it really take me back in time?'

This thought suddenly popped into Andy's head.

Back in time!

Reversing time!

To be fair, such an ability is actually extremely against the laws of nature.

'Maybe... I can find a Death Eater to test it out!'

Andy had never dared to violate the rules of time.

Who would want to play with their own life?

But if he didn't experiment and just relied on his own analysis and guesses, he would never be able to reach a definitive conclusion.

'What exactly happens when you break the rules of time?'

Andy's eyes sparkled.

He was really curious!

Andy had a hunch that if he experimented and found out the consequences of breaking the rules of time, he might be able to explain what had happened during those two 'strange time nodes'.

Last time in Azkaban...

And this time!

How did I know where the door was?

And why didn't I leave a clue?

With these thoughts, Andy walked around the room and finally stopped in front of a glass door cabinet.

Time-Turners!

There were loads of them inside the cabinet!

"That wasn't that challenging."

Andy chuckled softly and opened the cabinet to take one of the Time Turners.

Andy was really fed up with the twelve courses!

If they were all related to magic, Andy wouldn't have been so fed up. But the truth was, a few of the twelve courses were really useless.

For example, the Muggle Studies class!

And the History of Magic!

Andy always felt that the History of Magic had been largely altered and that many secrets were being hidden.

After walking around the room, touching this and that, Andy returned to the crystal glass dome after a circle.

A hummingbird was inside, repeating the cycle of ageing and rebirth.

Andy extended his wand and pressed it against the crystal glass dome.

As soon as the wand touched the glass, Andy experienced a sudden moment of trance. But before he could react, everything returned to normal.

It was as if the moment of trance had only been an illusion.

But Andy knew it wasn't an illusion!

'What's going on?'

'What just happened?'

Andy quickly withdrew his wand and checked himself, then the rest of the room.

Everything was normal!

The Department of Mysteries... This place is so weird!

Historically speaking, the Department of Mysteries was established before the Ministry of Magic.

It suggests that the Ministry of Magic was originally set up to manage and conceal the secrets of this place.

Unlike other Ministry of Magic departments, the Department of Mysteries actually has considerable independence, and the Unspeakables are almost independent of the control of the Minister of Magic.

"Phew,"

Andy let out a breath, preparing to try again.

It felt a little strange just now, but there was no danger.

At least that's what Andy believed!

Divination was still somewhat useful in times like these, and Andy also trusted his intuition.

Summoning the Fat Cat Patronus to guard by his side, Andy took out his wand and pressed it against the crystal glass cover and channelled his magic to test it.

Andy's mind momentarily wandered off again.

Other than that, nothing happened.

Andy quickly turned his head to look at the fat cat Patronus and asked, "Big cat, what just happened?"

The fat cat Patronus started gesticulating.

Because Andy and the fat cat Patronus were connected, Andy could feel what the fat cat Patronus was feeling, and they were able to communicate directly with each other through mental power.
