A small action suffused the compartment with an embarrassment-inducing atmosphere.
Harry and Ron fidgeted, twisting around, feeling like a third wheel, as if they shouldn't be there.
[I should be under the compartment, not in it. Looking at how lovey-dovey y'all are...]
A silent BGM played in Harry and Ron's heads.
Andy, however, remained composed, as if he hadn't noticed the awkwardness in the compartment, and continued to flirt with Hermione.
As long as I'm not embarrassed, others will be.
Andy understood this philosophy perfectly.
After a tense silence, Harry whispered to Ron, "Ron, I don't think we should stay here."
Ron nodded in agreement.
Shall we go then?
"Andy, um... and Hermione..."
Harry got up with a flustered face and thought hard for a reasonable excuse: "We... we need to find George and Fred for something, so we might be gone for a while."
"Huh?"
Andy seemed to have just noticed the two of them, and after a moment of hesitation, he said, "I'm not going."
"It's fine, then we'll go first." After saying that, Harry and Ron quickly fled from the compartment.
"Phew..."
After closing the compartment door, Harry and Ron looked at each other and took a deep breath.
They had almost forgotten to breathe.
"That was horrible!" Ron complained.
Harry nodded in agreement.
Indeed! Inside, he had felt short of breath and had to be careful with every movement to avoid disturbing the lovey-dovey atmosphere between Andy and Hermione.
When he finally spoke to Andy, it almost took all the courage Harry had in the world.
When they came out, they could finally breathe the air of freedom.
It was so sweet!
"Ron..."
Harry suddenly whispered, "I think... we should find girlfriends, too."
Ron instantly became interested and asked eagerly, "Harry, who do you want to ask to be your girlfriend?"
"Well..." Harry was at a loss for words.
He was willing to speak his mind, but he still lacked the courage to take real action.
"What about you?"
Harry asked in return, "Don't you want to find a girlfriend?"
Ron: "..."
Of course, he does, but...
Sigh!
The two best friends looked at each other.
At that moment, it seemed as if they were thinking the same thing.
"Potter, Weasley..."
An annoying voice broke the silence. "What are you two doing here? No one wants to sit with you?"
"Malfoy!" Harry looked at the person approaching and wanted to give a snappy comeback, but after opening his mouth, he didn't know what to say.
Malfoy…was now on their side!
This was really sad news.
"Why are you here?" Ron asked in a displeased tone.
"I'm here to find Collins…"
Malfoy looked around and asked, "Have you seen him? I've looked everywhere."
"They're right here..." Harry pointed behind him at the compartment, but when he looked back, there was nothing behind him.
Where was the compartment door?
Where was the big door?
In a daze, Harry seemed to see the compartment door again.
"Andy's in there, and, um... Hermione too," Harry explained, shaking his head.
Malfoy glanced at the two of them and reminded them, "Can you move aside?"
Harry and Ron moved aside.
Malfoy stepped forward and knocked on the door.
Thud!
"Ugh!"
Inside the compartment, Andy let out a sigh.
Who would have thought that Harry and Ron would dawdle at the door for so long and make Malfoy come looking for them.
With a gentle wave of his hand, the compartment door opened with a 'pop'.
"Come in!" Andy said.
Malfoy nodded politely and then walked in with a composed gait, displaying the elegant bearing of a pureblood aristocrat.
It made Andy's teeth ache.
Harry and Ron followed them in – they were curious to find out what Malfoy wanted to say to Andy.
In their third year, Malfoy had often met with Andy in private. After the Battle at the Ministry, the two of them had been told by the Order of the Phoenix that Andy had been trying to win over the Malfoy family.
And it had paid off.
Malfoy Sr. had indeed betrayed Voldemort.
So they were really curious. Did Malfoy come to see Andy because he had something important to discuss with him?
After the three of them had sat down, Andy waved to close the compartment door and asked curiously, "What's the matter?"
Malfoy didn't respond but gave Harry and Ron a disgusted look.
Harry and Ron didn't bat an eyelid, without the slightest sense of self-awareness.
"It's fine, just tell me!" Andy sighed.
Malfoy hesitated for a moment but finally spoke up: "Collins, I heard that the other night, you caused trouble for... for the You-Know-Who?"
"Who told you that?" Andy was a little surprised.
Only four people are supposed to know about what happened that night.
Voldemort certainly wouldn't reveal it, nor would Barty Crouch Jr. or Snape.
Andy didn't publicise it, either.
In theory, that incident should have been kept secret.
How did Malfoy know about it?
"What night?" Harry and Ron asked in unison.
Unfortunately... no one paid them any attention.
"What happened?" Hermione asked curiously.
"I'll tell you later," Andy said, squeezing Hermione's hand.
Harry and Ron: "..."
This differential treatment is just too obvious, isn't it?
Malfoy stammered, "You know, my father used to be a Death Eater. The other day, his old contacts got in touch with him. They all believed that the Dark Lord would soon be defeated, so..."
As he said this, Malfoy couldn't help but glance at Harry and Ron.
These two were really in the way.
"Malfoy!"
Ron immediately noticed the blind spot. "Your father still has contacts with the Death Eaters?"
"He's only doing it to get information!" Malfoy retorted.
"Stop it!"
Hermione snapped before asking, "Malfoy, are you saying that they want to side with the Ministry of Magic?"
Malfoy opened his mouth...
What was he supposed to tell these guys? Those people didn't want to side with the Ministry of Magic, and they didn't want to side with Dumbledore either.
The person they wanted to side with was...
As he considered this, Malfoy glanced at Andy.
As the only person within the Malfoy family who could get in touch with Andy, Malfoy was allowed to participate in the secret meeting that night.
He was shocked by the news!
After Voldemort fled the Ministry of Magic, he was ambushed by Andy at his doorstep and got half of his arm cut off.
In other words, Voldemort had suffered two consecutive defeats!
What was even more terrifying was that Andy had just entered his fourth year.
Under these circumstances, no one was optimistic about Voldemort's future—only death awaited him.
Many Death Eaters were looking for a way out.
And Andy was the one they were betting on.
