Chapter 5 Kira

The soft breeze gradually hitting my face was soothing; I could hear the ascending sound of birds chirping in the sky. Slightly I opened my eyes, groaning to the slight pain I felt in my head.

I was laid down in the woods in an unknown location. I got up slowly and looked sideways but the entire ambience was lonely. The sun was already up shining brightly and the leaves of the trees rustling to the gentle touch of the wind.

My mind was clogged, I pondered upon the possibility of arriving at my present location. I tried to get up pushing my body up with my hands fastened to the floor but I could feel pains all around my body, making me to fall back to a sitting posture.

Eventually I got up on the second attempt. I looked above my shoulders in confusion, that was when I noticed the color of my hair. It was black, my blonde hair was gone; this one was longer, its tail resting on the middle of my back.

My body felt bigger and stronger suddenly; I could no longer feel the pains all over me but my head still banged.

Looking down I noticed that the distance between my face and the floor seemed longer than I was used to then I looked at my hands and legs; I was in a different body. I was taller than I last remembered.

"What the hell!" I thought touching my face in anxiety, it felt strange; my nose seemed longer, my mouth was wider and my ears felt bigger, they had very enhanced auditory sense that could pick up tiny sounds from far distances.

Quickly I rushed over instinctively following the sound of rustling from a distance; I was really fast, faster than I had ever been, my pace increased as I followed the sound which became clearer as I approached.

Soon I arrived at the bank of a stream cascading down the hill of the forest. I bent down and peeped into the water to behold the sight of the beautiful woman whose body I had occupied.

She had a radiant color and a skin that glowed from the inside. Her eyes were as bright as the blue sea with a sharp intensity, she had a well chiseled face that exhumed an enigmatic smile. She was elegant and as glamorous as a goddess.

Instantly, I fell in love with my new body; I had forgotten the dilemma that I passed through and the feelings of great confidence overwhelmed me, the thought of wanting to take my life escaped my mind. I heard stories of the moon Goddess causing people to be reborn especially if they died under a full moon but I thought it was a myth.

My mind was clogged with memories; nostalgia of the life of another with a feeling of rage. The sensation of unaccomplished vendetta filled my mind, it was as though there was something I needed to do. Flashes of attacks and gory images dashed through my mind; I could see people that seemed close to the rightful owner of my new body being slaughtered. It was a gruesome attack.

"Run Kira! Run!"

The insistent howl of her father urging her to run as he lay on the floor in anguish after being clawed severely by his Beta resounded loudly in my ear. The image of him lying in his blood pool constantly appeared in my mind.

I figured that her name was Kira; she was the daughter of the Alpha of her pack. Her father and brother were gruesomely murdered by the Beta of her Pack after a fierce fight which led to the death of so many other wolves of the Pack. She was gravely injured and tried to escape but died from loss of blood. The word "Boris" remained in her lips till she took her final breath.

She must have died around the same time I had breathed my last as her cuts were still fresh and healed minutes after my rebirth.

For days I wandered through the forest freely trying to get hold of the euphoria of my new existence. Kira had great survival skills; she could light a fire with rocks, catch fishes with her hands, swim, climb hills and even hunt. She was really fast, faster than any werewolf I had ever seen. Together, we built a tent by fixing four tree branches cut and trimmed with bare hands into the soil and covering the top with grasses, twigs and leaves to provide shelter.

My enhanced vision remained intact; they were more upgraded, enabling me to see as far as I wanted and together with Kira's enhanced speed and auditory sense, we hunted for squirrels and chipmunks roasting them in the fire we made by striking rocks against each other.

For a while, I became very adaptive with my new identity; the visions became clearly and I knew everything about her. She was calm but resilient and we had a certain similarity; we both lost our mothers at childbirth but hers died while giving birth to her younger brother who was killed in the attack. Kira's mother was a powerful Luna and warrior of Bane Pack fighting alongside her Alpha. Kira soon became warrior and joined her Pack to fight battles at an early age after training in the Wolf Camp for years.

Kira became dominant at night soon after fully syncing with my mind. First; I woke up several mornings with either a dead antelope, deer or boar beside me completely battered and gashed with claw markings and canine cuts all over. Sometimes, their bodies were completely ripped apart and scattered all over. My mouth filled with pieces of their flesh and blood.

Sleeping in the tent and waking up elsewhere became a norm, with only blurry visions of whatever happened in the night. It always seemed as though I was dreaming but the reality was that those were flashes of the incidents of the night. I could feel my bone cracking to the sound of the fire crackling in the night. My clothes were ripped off by the black ferocious Wolf that emerged at night, and so I resorted to sleeping naked at night and covering myself with animal skin during the day.

Kira continued to claim dominance at night while I took over in the morning; the body was occupied by two consciousness. I clearly couldn't control the rage she had to kill and attack viciously. She had a lingering thirst for blood; an unquenchable desire to slaughter. As much as I tried to control the actions of my new body, Kira always took over at night.

She began her mission, seeking vengeance for the death of her father and brother; she located her Pack hunting down some of those who were part of the attack on her father and brother. Kira was vicious, she had a menacing figure, even her shadow scared some of those whom she attacked, cutting them down with her sharp claws and sharp-edged canine. She particularly enjoyed biting them down on their necks. I could see these attacks going on but I could never take control.

Kira killed about five werewolves on her killings spree completely unnoticed; she always attacked them while they were unsuspecting and alone vanishing before the others who harkened to the death howl of those she killed could arrive.

Vehemently in her quest to get into the fortress of her camp and attack the new Alpha of Bane Pack at night, we walked into an ambush. Several guards were waiting for us concealed in the dark angles of the fortress. There were about ten of them.

"Welcome Kira. Really nice of you to join the party."

By the increased rage that Kira felt I knew that was Boris, the Beta that killed her father. He had a menacing figure and stood really tall heightened above the other men around. He grinned in excitement as his guards surrounded us.

"You really should have died with your pathetic father and brother that night."

Kira growled in fierce rage, her eyes turned red each time she shifted to her wolf form; this time it glowed like burning fire. She was ready to attack, dominating the anxiety that I felt with her courage and vendetta.

"I would have loved to stay, but I would come back to finish you off. You father wasn't really much of a fighter but you really have surpassed my expectations."

Some of the guards shifted and growled, ready to attack but Kira stood her ground; I resisted and attempted to flee but she stood firm ready to sink her canine into the guards.

She took them down effortlessly and for a moment, we were really victorious until a sharp arrow hit her piercing through her fur almost hitting her heart. I felt the pain too. The arrow was poisoned; it weakened us, making our visions blurry and our hearts beating slowly.

Kira blanked out and I took charge of the body. There were three guards remaining and so I knocked them over and ran. They pursued for a while but I managed to maneuver my way through the forest until they gave up.

I walked for a while struggling to maintain a steady posture limping from the arrow wound; the poison was drawing closer to my heart making my breath wheezed. I got close to a big tree and my strength finally failed me; I fell to the ground and blanked out.
