Roseville

"Where do we go from here?" I asked rhetorically. I wasn't sure of what we were going to do and at this point, Drake was driving as slow as a sloth.

"I think I know somewhere we can go. But we need some cash."

I looked at him 'Where the hell do we get cash?' I thought very much confused. All through my life till then, I had never had any need for money, my father very much provided everything that I needed.

Drake opened the glove compartment and turned on the lights inside the car. Luckily there was a bundle of cash kept neatly inside, there were also other items like some pictures, letters, debit cards and a smart phone.

Drake took the smart phone and the bundle of cash excitedly and gave them to me. Then he closed the glove compartment and continued driving. For about five minutes we were still on the road until Drake pulled up in a corner in front of a tall building. The lights were still on and there was a man standing inside visible through the windows of the building.

"Wait here, don't come out." I looked at Drake not sure if him going and leaving me was a good idea. 'What is even happening?' I thought! I mean I am supposed to be the Werewolf. Why the hell do I feel unsafe whenever he is not around?

"Are you sure about this?" I asked looking at him inquisitively.

"Trust me!" He said with an assuring smile on his face. 'Of course I trust you silly!'

Drake opened the door of the car and got down, then he walked up to the house and spoke to the man. The conversation was really lengthy, at some point I began to get worried. The man seemed to have a lot of questions to ask visible from his gestures and countenance. When he saw Drake, he seemed rather surprised but happy at the same time, but soon the excitement died down when they started to go deeper into their conversation.

I was a bit drained and so I lay my head backwards and closed my eyes to take a nap since they were taking so long to finish up with their conversation.

"Hey you!" I jerked up immediately, opening my eyes widely as though someone was about to attack me. My senses were growing wild.

"You scared me!" I said with a grin when I saw Drake opening the door of the car.

"Come on. I need you to meet someone."

Getting down from the car, I followed Drake walking slowly and cautiously; my eyes scouring through the entire ambience ready to ward off any more attacks.

We walked right through the door and Drake shut it behind us. There seated on a black couch was the man. He seemed grumpy at first staring right into my eyes as though we had a score to settle.

"Sam! This is Lyla." Drake said pointing at me as he looked at the man with a smile on his face.

The man who seemed to be over Fifty years of age with grey hairs and little wrinkles got up from his chair and walked towards me without any expression on his face. His steps seemed to be aggressive as his feet stomped into the ground with heavy thuds.

"Hello Lyla! Heard so much about you!"

Whatever that meant! I wasn't very sure but I had to feign a smile. I didn't know what Drake told him but I trusted Drake and so nothing else mattered at that point.

Sam took a long look at me from hair to toe, I wasn't sure if he was worried because of my outfit or any other reason. My father's jacket and pants seemed a bit oversized even though I had a new body plus they made me look strange in them.

"Come with me." Sam said and turned towards the staircase. I took a glance at Drake and he smiled at me with an assuring expression.

We followed him up the stairs. I walked cautiously as usual still not sure of what the countenance of the man towards me meant.

Sam got to the end of the corridor, there was a room then he opened it and walked inside.

"Come on." Drake said softly to me when he noticed I was a bit skeptical about going inside the room with him.

Eventually I stepped inside still scouting the entire area. The room was size-able, a little chandelier was hanging up in the middle of the room. There was a large bed covered in white shits at one end, a couch at the other end then a small desk and chair right in the middle of the room. The wardrobe in the room was small but very beautiful.

"You can stay here." Sam said and taking one last careful look at me he walked away through the door and shut the door behind him.

"Well…?" I said to Drake expectant of some answers regarding the strange behavior of the man who seemed not have a reservation about me.

"Don't worry about Sam. He has his moments."

I wasn't quite sure of what that meant but at that moment I was exhausted and needed to get some rest. I jumped right into the bed, it was cozy, the relaxation I got was all I needed. Shutting my eyes I spread my arms across the bed heaving a heavy sigh of relief.

"Do you think we are safe here?" I asked suddenly remembering that we were trying to escape from bounty hunters who were also Werewolves. But Drake seemed rather calm for the situation. He smiled at me, then he walked up to me and sat close to me on the bed drawing me up to sit beside me.

"We are safe here, no one is gonna find us." He said caressing my hands. His touch was always soft and comforting.

"Do you trust him?" I asked again still not sure of what he had told Sam.

"Sam is cool. Besides, he couldn't resist some cash."

Oh well, since he got paid, I felt some relief, at least a tiny one even though that didn't necessarily mean that we could trust him.

Just then a knock came on the door and our eyes went to the door. I was startled a bit clutching my fists and ready to attack but Drake held on to my hand forcing me to be still.

The door opened shortly after and Sam came in carrying two sealed paper bags and two plastic cups covered with a lid.

"I wasn't sure what she was going to like so I got these instead."

"Thanks Sam!" Drake replied with a smile. He got up and took the paper bags and cups from Sam. He smiled back and walked away shutting the door behind him.

"Here have these." Drake said handing over one of the paper bags and cups to me. I wasn't sure what was inside and so I took them and watched him closely to see what he was going to do.

Drake opened the paper bag and brought out some fries which he started to munch smiling in satisfaction. Then he opened the cover of the cup and drank from its content.

"Go on!" He said when he noticed that I was still looking at him not sure if I was going to like what he was eating. I had never tasted any other thing apart from fish and flesh in a long time. Back at Moon Blood town, we ate some other foods like rice, potatoes and corn but not packaged food.

I gently followed what Drake did and opened the paper bag, then I took out one stick of fries and put into my mouth slowly. Nice! It has a soft and delicious taste in my mouth. Next I opened the cup and drank from it. That was my first time of taking milkshake and I must say it tasted so good!

"Tastes great right?" Drake said with a smile. Soon we were done eating and I must say, I was indeed satisfied with the fries and milkshake.

"You can have your bath now." Drake said softly pointing towards another door inside the room. I knew that I absolutely needed to wash off the dirt in my body and also the blood stains stuck in my nails.

"Here, have these." Drake handed over a lovely blue gown and a towel to me. He had brought them out from the wardrobe in the room.

"Whose are these?" I said with a shrug.

"They are Lisa's. Sam's daughter." He responded still extending his hands towards me.

I took the towel and gown from him and walked into the bathroom to have my bath. Turning on the shower after removing the cloths I had on, I allowed the water to pour from my hair down my legs. The feeling of the water streaming down my body was sensational, I felt great relief as the water washed out the stains in my body and softened my skin. I spent a lot of time inside the bathroom.

When I was done taking my bath, I cleaned my body with the neat white towel and put on the blue flowery gown. Stepping out of the bathroom, I noticed that Drake was already fast asleep on the bed. 'Poor Drake! He really went through a lot today.' I thought smiling at him. He seemed really peaceful while he slept.
