The grand Temple of Thebes loomed in the distance, its columns and towering gates bathed in the soft golden light of dawn. Lucius, Lyxor, Imhotep, and Lei Fei approached, their steps echoing on the stone pathway leading to the entrance.
"Incense." Lei Fei's eyes narrowed.
He hated that scent for personal reasons he couldn't share with anyone.
Imhotep walked ahead of the group, as they neared the temple's gates. As they crossed the threshold into the temple's central hall, the atmosphere shifted.
The air grew heavier, charged with a strange power. It was the similar feeling Lucius and Lyxor got the first time they met Imhotep. Egyptian priests and priestesses always possessed strange abilities.
At the far end of the hall, a robed figure stood waiting, her golden headdress hiding her face in the dim light. The priestess took a step forward, her eyes wary as she inspected the two hulking figures behind Imhotep.
