Chapter 6: Chen Family's Secret Skills
"Yeah." Ye Feng nodded.
"Wait, are you saying that you have awakened a Three Lives Martial Spirit?" Ning Fengzhi asked, his tone filled with disbelief.
"Yes." Ye Feng nodded again.
Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin exchanged glances, shock evident in their eyes.
"What is your third spirit?" Ning Fengzhi asked curiously, still skeptical. He found it hard to believe that someone in this world could possess a Three Lives Martial Spirit.
A Three Lives Martial Spirit!
A spirit master who awakened such an ability would be capable of adding twenty-seven spirit rings in total.
Phew—
Just imagining it was terrifying.
"My third spirit is called the Eye of Hell," Ye Feng said as he summoned it.
His eyes turned completely black—a deep, eerie darkness that seemed capable of swallowing one's soul if stared at for too long.
"Three Lives Martial Spirit!"
"Three Lives Martial Spirit!"
Both Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin exclaimed simultaneously, their bodies stiffening in shock. They stared at Ye Feng as if he were some legendary creature. It wasn't until he withdrew his Eye of Hell that they finally snapped out of their daze.
"Uncle Jian, you've really struck gold this time!" Ning Fengzhi grinned, sincerely congratulating Chen Xin.
"Yeah, this trip to the Barak Kingdom was definitely worth it," Chen Xin replied, his gaze burning with excitement as he looked at Ye Feng, as if he had found a priceless treasure. "Ye Feng, listen carefully. From now on, you must never reveal to anyone that you possess a Three Lives Martial Spirit. To the outside world, you will only acknowledge the spirits recorded in the Spirit Hall's certificate. Do you understand?"
"Got it, Master," Ye Feng responded. Then, with a teasing smile, he asked, "So... can I add spirit rings to my third spirit?"
Chen Xin froze for a moment.
He was old and experienced enough to recognize when someone was showing off, and right now, Ye Feng was absolutely flexing. He was flaunting the fact that he had a Three Lives Martial Spirit.
But then again…
Even if Ye Feng wanted to keep a low profile, his overwhelming talent wouldn't allow it.
"Of course not," Chen Xin said, his voice stern. "Your third spirit must follow the same rule as your second spirit. You are not allowed to add any spirit rings until you become a Titled Douluo. By then, all your second and third spirit rings will be at least ten-thousand-year spirit rings."
"Ten thousand years?" Ye Feng asked flatly.
"Yes," Chen Xin confirmed, nodding.
He didn't seem to notice Ye Feng's indifferent tone—Ye Feng clearly wasn't satisfied with just ten-thousand-year spirit rings.
"Come here, disciple," Chen Xin instructed, summoning his Seven Killing Sword. He gestured for Ye Feng to step onto it. In an instant, they soared into the sky and landed on a mountaintop.
Holy Spirit Village was surrounded by mountains and rivers. Right now, a massive mountain blocked their path. Chen Xin's eyes gleamed silver, and his aura surged.
"Watch closely," he instructed.
As soon as he spoke, the Seven Killing Sword's aura fused with the surrounding spirit power. In this moment, Chen Xin and his sword became one—there was no longer any distinction between them.
Then, with a casual wave of his hand, a sword aura hundreds of feet long materialized. It slashed toward the mountain in front of them with unstoppable force.
Boom!
The earth trembled violently as dazzling silver light painted the entire landscape. The intensity of the radiance made it impossible to keep one's eyes open. A powerful shockwave spread across the area.
Meanwhile, in Holy Spirit Village—
"Sword Douluo…" Tang Hao murmured in shock.
From the sheer force of the spirit power fluctuations, Tang Hao instantly recognized the person behind the attack.
"Tang Hao, I've decided," Old Jack suddenly announced, stepping out of the blacksmith shop with his cane. "This year's village work-study quota will go to Xiao San. He will attend Notting City Junior Spirit Master Academy. As for the travel expenses… the village will cover everything. That's final. Now, I need to go check out what caused that explosion just now."
Tang Hao remained silent, his mind racing with questions. Why was Chen Xin unleashing his power here in Holy Spirit Village? It clearly had nothing to do with him.
Since both Tang San and Old Jack were present, Tang Hao suppressed his curiosity. Instead of rushing to investigate, he chose to stay put.
Back on the mountaintop, Ye Feng stood in stunned silence. The once steep, towering mountain—over a hundred meters high—had been cleaved in half by a single swing of Chen Xin's sword.
A brand-new pathway now led straight into the outside world.
Down in the village, the farmers and merchants who regularly traveled in and out of Holy Spirit Village were ecstatic—this shortcut would save them a ton of effort.
"Did you see that clearly?" Chen Xin asked.
"Uh… yeah," Ye Feng nodded, then immediately shook his head. He hesitated, nodding again—only to shake his head once more.
The scene he had just witnessed left him with a strange feeling. He vividly remembered Chen Xin's movements, but when he tried to break them down, it felt as though they were impossible to capture.
It was as if the technique both existed and didn't exist at the same time—like an illusion of reality.
It was an indescribable sensation.
"Don't rush it," Chen Xin said, ruffling Ye Feng's hair. His tone was serious. "The move I just used is called the Unity of Man and Sword. It's a secret family skill passed down through the Chen family. It took me ten years to fully comprehend it. Remember—without my permission, you must never teach this technique to anyone."
"Understood, Master," Ye Feng replied firmly.
At that moment, Ning Fengzhi arrived at the mountaintop.
"Alright, I'll be heading off now," Chen Xin announced. "Since you insist on attending Notting City Junior Spirit Master Academy, I won't stop you. Fengzhi and I still have some matters to handle. Once we're done, I'll come find you and personally help you obtain your first three spirit rings."
"Okay, Master," Ye Feng said obediently.
"Fengzhi, let's go," Chen Xin called out.
"Wait a minute, Master!" Ye Feng suddenly spoke up.
"Hmm?" Chen Xin turned back to look at his disciple. "What is it?"
"It's nothing important, um…" Ye Feng scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Master… do you have any money?"
"…Money?" Chen Xin blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected Ye Feng to stop him just for that.
"Yeah," Ye Feng nodded sheepishly. "I need to pay a registration fee to enroll in the academy. It's not much—just five gold spirit coins. Don't worry, I'll pay you back once I have the money."
"Hahaha!"
Chen Xin burst into laughter, and Ning Fengzhi quickly followed suit.
With a flick of his finger, Ning Fengzhi pulled out a black card from his storage spirit guide and handed it to Ye Feng.
"There are ten thousand gold spirit coins on this card," Ning Fengzhi said with a smile. "Use it however you like. Consider it my gift to you. Uncle Jian already gave you a present—so just treat this as Uncle Ning's gift."
