Enin

"Look over there"

She pointed towards the sky, where the Northern Star met the heart of the void, making a beautiful arrangement of colours in dots and various shapes, sparkle and spread across the blanket of darkness. This was the time when the sorcerers celebrated years of evolution, worshipping the Great Goddess, Damenia. This was also the time when a sorcerer's ability was strengthened.

I watched, enthralled as a blue light started glowing from out her chest. She wasn't the only one. Excited, I looked down at mine but found none. I should've known then, how hopeless all my tries would be.

Yet….

Yet…..

"This should do"

I held the small vial up in the air.

Ez took it from my hand and examined it himself, his hand trembling. He sucked in a sharp breath and handed it to me back.

What we were about to do was something very big and illegal as per the rules, but, this was the only way. He had lost too much blood to continue living on and finding his blood type at that moment seemed to be a luxury. Before we lost any more time, I opened the vial, and poured the contents into his mouth, making him swallow with as much strength he had left in him.

"It'll take a while"

Ez nodded his head and leaned on the wall, with his thumb in between his teeth, chewing his nails.

"Don't tense too much. He'll surely get up"

I tried consoling him. He stared out the window and bit his lip.

"He better"

He said. I looked down at Rix and sat on the chair beside the bed, both of us watching, staring in beguilement, as he shifted. As the shift turned to struggling on the bed. I stood up in alarm and was about to go near him, when he opened his eyes all of a sudden. His pupils pure golden, like the eye of a wolf.

Ez and I looked at each other, vigilant. He stood up straighter and I stood beside him as we watched the transformation in front of us.

"Ree..."

He tried calling out to him. We jolted and stepped away when a part of his body cracked, the loudness of which filling up the open space. Concern gripped my chest as he thrashed in the bed whimpering in pain. Ez was about to approach when I pulled him back.

"It's dangerous"

He wanted to argue when the bed got destroyed under the weight of his body, his bones cracking to increase and become taller and broader. His muscles expanding under his skin, which had turned hairy with brown hair, and his nails, into long sharp claws.

It was majestically scary.

Ez and I looked at each other then at the creature that had been formed in front of us, staring at us.

"Rix...."

He tried again.

But I knew.

"He is not Rix right now"

I whispered, as gentle as the wind, enough to get the boat moving. Ez sighed and slumped his shoulders.

The creature growled at us and then all at once, he jumped out of the window, into the forest. We looked at each other, panicked and we quickly tried to follow him but we lost track of where he went, he was fast.

I went to my potion's room and took a bowl of crushed Oroca leaves, a peice of his garment and burned it together, while chanting a chant to make the smoke rise and follow the direction of where he was on the map, I made using its stem.

We watched desperately as the smoke slowly traced his way. I blanched as the smoke changed direction, going towards the main town. Ez and I looked at each other and quickly ran towards the car.

If any civilian were to se hum, worse get attacked by him then.... No, no, be positive. Be positive. I sped up.

"Wait, he is changing direction. To the left"

I turned the car to the left and stepped on the brakes. Running into the mass of trees he ran off to.

We frowned as the smoke hovered over a shrine. And then we heard it, the loudest howl followed by multiple howls coming from only one dorection.

We made haste and ran towards the melodic singing of the wolves. Towards the shrine.

"You know anything about what he's doing there?"

"Making a pack?". I frowned and we slowed down as we neared the place. "I don't quite know"

He nodded his head. Slowly, we approached the place, and as we passed by some of the trees that covered the sight and got a view of all the wolves, circling around him, we held our breaths and stepped forward.

"Rix..."

He tried again, this time, the werewolf stopped and turned towards us. We stood there like a statue when he walked towards us.

"Arkas"

The werewolf said. He was at least 8 feet tall. Thick drops of sweat, soon, started formed on my forehead. I looked at the symbol on his body, the print of Eliros Silver pack's symbol. He was alpha of all alphas, the great Lord Arkas.

"Huh?"

Ez tilted his head, confused and frightened.

"My name"

Lord Arkas answered and I swallowed. Surely he wouldn't rip us apart, would he? Ez and I shared curious glances at each other then looked at all the wolves snarling at us.

"They won't bite. Don't worry, human and....a sorcerer?"

We stiffened.

I quickly went forward and showed my neck, jabbing at Ez to do the same, as a form of surrender and peace.

"King Arkas, please show us mercy"

He hummed and nodded his head. Ez looked at me weird and did the same thing as I. King Arkas seemed pleased with the gesture, a smirk forming on his lip.

"Good. Know your place"

After some time the wolves started going away with one look from him. It was only us three then.

"A thousand years. After a thousand years I'm finally set free"

He said and laughed, the sound rumbling out from his chest. Ez and I looked up at him with gaping mouth. He turned to look at us and cleared his throat.

"Tell me your names, my servants"
