Jacqueline and Carminda walked back to the farm at a much faster pace than when they had arrived. The young girl was in a hurry to go and resume her chores on the ranch.
She walked very fast ahead of them. Jacqueline wondered whether the girl knew. Was she aware of the procedures which had been performed inside the hut?
Back at the cottage, Aunt Maria did not ask any questions. She served a chicken pie for dinner and hummed a cheerful song, as she went about her routine. Jacqueline and Carminda were both very hungry and tired. So they really enjoyed their food.
After dinner Jacqueline graciously thanked her aunt for her hospitality. She announced that they wanted to leave in the morning and return to the city.
Maria told them that there was a man on the farm who would organize a cab for them. He would be willing to assist them.
Jacqueline asked her aunt to consider visiting South Africa one day, after she had retired. Her aunt jovially promised to do that.
