So Happy to Pick Up the Spoils Again!

Upon hearing Maxwell's question, Carline silently raised her head, her gaze intently fixed on the fighter jet in the sky. The tip of her staff began to glow red again.

"Hold on, don't act yet!" Maxwell quickly interjected.

If Maxwell's guess was correct, this fighter jet was likely sent by Supreme Hall, probably to rescue the group of young men and women from earlier. They would inevitably have to confront whatever was controlling the plants inside the fortress, and Maxwell was all for it.

"Let them fight their battle, I certainly won't interfere! Picking up the spoils is more interesting than fighting!"

Above the skies outside the Red Fortress, the fighter jet launched three more missiles, targeting the forest again, but this time the target area was closer to the Red Fortress.

Suddenly, numerous vines burst from the ground within that area, swinging wildly to block the missiles' path. However, the missiles were very fast, dodging several vines initially, but as more vines appeared, the missiles were eventually blocked and exploded on impact.

Thus, the damage to the forest was far less significant than that caused by the previous two missiles.

The fighter jet then suddenly moved again, flying directly above that area and lowering its altitude to just a few hundred meters above the forest.

The body of the jet tilted towards the ground, and the nose of the plane rotated to target the ground. Then, another missile was launched.

From this angle, the vines could not block in time.

In the blink of an eye, the missile hit the ground, blasting apart a swath of trees.

The fighter jet moved again, swiftly flying over the forest, launching several more missiles, destroying patch after patch of woods around the Red Fortress.

Just then, inside the Red Fortress, a thunderous rumbling suddenly echoed, and the ground vibrated. A gigantic tree shot up from the earth at an incredible speed, lifting up the palace that Maxwell had seen through the zombies' eyes, where several students from Supreme Hall were confined.

This massive tree was extraordinarily robust, with a diameter of about a hundred meters and a height of several hundred meters. It glowed with a sinister, blood-red light, giving it a very eerie and captivating appearance.

As it emerged, the entire Red Fortress began to tremble.

"Holy shit, what is this?" Maxwell exclaimed, staring at the giant tree that had appeared before him.

"Could this be the real boss?" Maxwell wondered.

As soon as the tree fully formed, countless vines extended from it, all lashing towards the fighter jet in the sky.

The fighter jet agilely dodged them while another missile was launched. However, there were too many vines extending from the tree, and the missile was also blocked.

"Its defenses are too strong, and it has a large attack range, but the tree itself cannot move, making it excellent for defense. But it's strange, if there's such a tree inside the Red Fortress, how did the zombies breach it a hundred years ago?" Maxwell thought.

This was the first time Maxwell had encountered such a phenomenon; it was as if the tree had come alive!

The fighter jet and the giant tree were now engaged in combat, missiles on one side and vines on the other.

"I wonder if I can take this opportunity to get the zombies out of the Red Fortress?" Maxwell thought, seizing the moment to issue an order to the Tier 2 female zombie still inside the fortress.

The Tier 2 female zombie pulled out her knife again, cleared the plants from the main gate, and easily pushed it open.

"No resistance!" Maxwell was secretly delighted.

"These things seem very powerful, but it appears they can only focus on one thing at a time," Maxwell laughed.

Maxwell was aware that the fighter jet was putting significant pressure on the giant tree. Although its missiles were not infinite, there were still plenty left. Moreover, if the tree was hit even once, it would cause irreparable damage, naturally leaving it unable to devote more energy to protecting the female zombies.

As for why the vines hadn't interfered with the zombies Maxwell had previously led out, that remained a mystery.

The forest fire was still burning, with many areas yet untouched by the flames.

Maxwell directed the Tier 2 female zombie to lead the large group of thousands of female zombies quickly through the forest, reaching his location in no time.

"We need to hurry up!" Maxwell said.

From his elevated position, well-concealed by lush vegetation, neither the fighter jet nor the tree, now locked in intense combat, paid any attention to him.

However, Maxwell couldn't afford to delay, so to avoid any complications, he needed to act quickly!

This time, Maxwell sent out all his zombies, including Eva and Carline.

With the help of a large number of Level 6-10 zombies and Maxwell's quick hands, he was fusing them at the rate of three in two seconds.

"I wonder when I can reach two per second!" However, Maxwell was still not completely satisfied with his speed.

On the ground, Maxwell was busy with his zombie system.

In the sky, the fighter jet continued to battle the giant tree.

The intervals between missile launches were getting longer, seemingly due to a dwindling supply.

"Just a little longer!" Maxwell distractedly watched the battle in the sky.

But his hands did not slow down; he continued to fuse zombies at high speed.

Time flew by, and more than an hour passed in a blink.

The fighter jet still circled in the sky, seemingly unable to do anything about the huge red tree.

Maxwell had finally managed to eliminate the large wave of zombies.

He took a deep breath.

Even with his current physical condition, half an hour of intense activity had left him feeling exhausted.

Moreover, he had stayed up all night the previous evening without rest, and today had been another day of strenuous work.

Maxwell had eliminated nearly six thousand zombies, with Level 1 zombies being the most numerous, followed by over a thousand Level 2 zombies, and a small number of Level 3 and Level 4 zombies.

Maxwell obtained seven mutated zombies, and after Fusion, he ended up with three Tier 2 mutated female zombies.

Additionally, he already had one Tier 2 mutated female zombie, which made a total of four.

Thus, Maxwell obtained a new Tier 3 mutated female zombie.

"The harvest is quite good!" Maxwell patted Eva's little head and said, "Eva, it's time for your upgrade!"

As he spoke, Maxwell placed Eva back into the Fusion space. He then dragged the newly acquired mutated female zombie into the cell where Eva was.
