Unbeaten

Previously, Maxwell's jumping ability was only capable of leaping about ten meters. But now, he had doubled that height to over thirty meters—equivalent to the height of a ten-story building, even taller than the high walls of the arena.

Norris was startled but quickly steadied himself, readying his spear for combat. Maxwell, well-prepared, blocked Norris's counterattack with just one hand and swung out a punch with the other.

Norris couldn't raise his spear in time and had to block with his left hand, feeling as though he could hear the sound of bones cracking in his hand from the impact.

Fortunately, Maxwell couldn't stay in mid-air for long and was soon pulled down by gravity.

Samuel quickly ascended, glancing at his left hand only to see it was indeed fractured, the bones mixed with flesh and blood streaming.

"Such formidable strength! And that jumping ability is incredible!"

Norris hovered high in the air, hesitant to descend again, gripping his spear tightly and resorting to using his abilities for long-range attacks from above.

But the distance was too great, even diminishing the effectiveness of his abilities.

"This won't do; how could this level of effort possibly wear him down?"

Samuel was forced to return to lower altitudes, but whenever he entered Maxwell's jumping range, he faced Maxwell's relentless assaults. With these experiences, Samuel no longer dared to fly below thirty-five meters.

"Samuel seems unable to handle Maxwell!"

In the private box, Basil watched the formidable Maxwell and a visibly wary Samuel, his face darkening to its utmost.

Above the arena, Samuel flapped his wings, occasionally hurling bolts of lightning downward.

"Wow!"

"Oh my!"

"Look!"

"..."

Norris was now hovering much higher than the arena's outer walls. On the open ground outside the arena, there were already crowds gathered, seemingly more numerous than those inside the arena!

As soon as they saw Samuel unleash a bolt of lightning, loud gasps would erupt from the crowd outside, the volume of voices combined creating a wave-like rumble, clearly audible even to those within the arena!

At first, the people inside the arena were puzzled, wondering what was happening outside. Soon, they realized the pattern: the shouts from outside matched the frequency of Samuel launching his lightning inside the arena.

Gradually, many began to understand. Those outside the high walls of the arena probably thought Samuel was dominating the fight, playing with his opponent at will.

For a moment, most people didn't know whether to laugh or cry, with some unable to hold back their laughter.

Samuel, stuck high in the sky, seemed trapped aloft, unable to descend but also unable to affect Maxwell, growing increasingly frustrated.

He had no way to deal with Maxwell! Close combat was a losing battle for him, and using abilities to wear down Maxwell proved futile, not to mention he dared not descend below thirty-five meters above Maxwell.

Samuel could only keep flying around, trying to find an opportunity, then swing his spear to send down another bolt of lightning.

But these bolts of lightning seemed like mere tickles to Maxwell.

This had long been clear to those within the arena. Norris had run out of options against Maxwell, completely on the defensive.

However, those outside the high walls didn't know this.

They saw Samuel in the air like a god of thunder, magnificent and highly commendable. But to Samuel, these cheers were grating, almost like jeers, making his face burn with each sound as if they were slaps to his face.

"Thunderstrike!"

Finally at his limit, Samuel unleashed a bolt of lightning from his spear, aimed directly at the crowd outside the high walls.

"Anyone who makes another sound, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

Anger surged across Samuel's face, his words fierce and threatening.

The people outside were startled, quickly silencing themselves, no longer daring to make a sound.

"Norris is also..."

Inside the arena, Evolvers began whispering among themselves.

"Norris, relying on his high-altitude advantage, essentially can never lose, but he has never been pushed to this extent. After all, being undefeated and achieving a victory in combat are entirely different concepts! Norris can't accept not achieving a combat victory."

Another person nearby commented.

Indeed, with wings, Norris seemed invincible, as he was in the air—after all, who could bring him down?

Given his agility in the air and the advantage of having wings, even missiles would struggle against him.

However, Norris came today full of fury, seeking revenge for his brother, boasting and throwing around threats. But the fight that followed didn't match his initial bravado—it almost seemed like two different people. Perhaps this was where Norris's reputation would end.

"Norris can't just be this; it doesn't quite match his previous exploits! He must have some tricks left. Let's see what he does next," an Evolver in the arena murmured.

"Don't forget, his strongest technique is his lightning ability, but it seems utterly ineffective against Maxwell. He's already played his hand with his abilities, what more could he have up his sleeve? And among many abilities, lightning powers are known to be among the most destructive. From what I see, Norris might have just met his match this time!"

Yet, some Evolvers were skeptical about Norris.

Not everyone was optimistic about Norris.

Or rather, not everyone liked him.

In the sky, Norris's right hand, clutching his spear, had begun to sweat.

He was indeed losing his composure.

His lightning abilities had always been dominant, and he had never found himself in such a predicament.

The opponent's defensive power was something he couldn't break through, let alone make a dent in.

Moreover, it wasn't just that he couldn't physically impact Maxwell; he usually could wear down an opponent with his abilities until they succumbed. But now, Maxwell had also demonstrated formidable close-combat offensive skills. Norris didn't even dare to descend within thirty-five meters of him, the memory of those fierce punches still instilled fear in him.

But staying above thirty-five meters in the air, trying to wear Maxwell down with his abilities...

What was he to do?

Norris was irritated, but then he thought, doesn't the opponent also lack a good way to handle him?

However, what really embarrassed Norris was that his current unbeaten status was solely because he could fly.

Though having wings was indeed part of his strength, he was Norris—his wings shouldn't just be a means to preserve his life!
