Trina smiled not believing Ryan's kindness.
She nodded in agreement with Ryan, her eyes shining with appreciation for her mother-in-law.
"Mom, Mrs Walter is right. She's always treated us like family, even before Romeo and I got married. You don't have to worry about a thing. You're home now, and we'll take care of you."
As they were still talking, Romeo walked into the living room, his eyes scanning the space until they landed on Meble, who was seated on the sofa with Trina and Ryan.
He knew she was supposed to return home today, but he hadn't been looking forward to it.
Nevertheless, he put on a polite smile and approached her.
"Welcome back, Ms. Meble," he said, his voice courteous but lacking warmth. "I hope you're feeling better."
Meble smiled weakly at him, and Romeo could sense the tension between them. He was about to excuse himself to his room when Ryan intervened.
"Romeo, dear, don't be in such a hurry," Ryan said, her voice firm but gentle. "Come and sit down with us. Have a cup of coffee and chat with Ms. Meble for a bit."
Romeo hesitated for a moment, but Ryan's expectant gaze made him nod reluctantly. He set his briefcase aside and took a seat next to Trina, trying to muster up some enthusiasm for the impromptu gathering.
As Romeo sat down, his eyes met Trina's, and for a brief moment, they just stared at each other. Trina, sensing the tension, quickly pasted a fake smile on her face, trying to convey that everything was fine between them.
Meble, oblivious to the underlying tension, smiled warmly at Romeo. "You know, Romeo, you're such a handsome young man," she said, her eyes shining with admiration.
Ryan chimed in, her voice filled with maternal pride. "Yes, indeed he is. And Trina, my dear, you're absolutely beautiful. You two make a wonderful couple."
As the conversation continued, Trina began to feel increasingly uncomfortable, sensing the tension between her and Romeo.
She excused herself, trying to break the awkwardness.
"I'll just go get some more coffee for everyone," she said, forcing a smile onto her face.
Meble, still smiling warmly at Romeo, asked him, "So, Romeo, how's work been? Everything going smoothly?"
Romeo replied calmly, "Yes, everything's fine, Ms. Meble. Just the usual busy days at the office."
He spoke in a polite, detached tone, his eyes never meeting Trina's as she returned with the coffee.
Trina returned with the coffee and sat down beside Romeo once again. The two of them remained silent, listening to Ryan and Meble's conversation, but not contributing to it themselves. The tension between them was palpable, and the silence seemed to grow thicker with each passing moment.
Finally, Romeo broke the silence, standing up and excusing himself. "I'm going to go take a shower," he said, his voice neutral. "I've had a long day."
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Trina, Ryan, and Meble to continue their conversation without him.
They were still talking when
The maid walked into the living room, a warm smile on her face.
"Dinner is ready, everyone," she announced, her voice gentle but clear.
Ryan stood up, her eyes sparkling with warmth. "Ah, wonderful. Let's head to the dining table, shall we?" She offered her arm to Meble, helping her up from the sofa.
As they made their way to the dining table, the delicious aroma of food wafted through the air, making their stomachs growl with anticipation.
The maid had set the table beautifully, with a special welcome back dish for Meble taking center stage.
Ryan's eyes sparkled with warmth as she smiled at Meble.
"I hope you're feeling up to eating, Meble. We've prepared your favorite dish to welcome you back home."
Just as they were about to sit down, Ryan turned to Trina.
"Trina, dear, would you please go and call Romeo? Dinner is ready, and we shouldn't start without him."
" Okay Mother.." Trina replied and then went upstairs to call Romeo.
Trina knocked gently on the door to their room, waiting for Romeo's response. "Enter," he called out from the other side.
She opened the door and stepped inside, Romeo was standing in front of the dresser, a towel wrapped around his waist, his muscular body glistening with droplets of water.
Trina's eyes widened involuntarily as she took in the sight of her husband's chiseled physique.
She quickly looked away, feeling a flush rise to her cheeks.
"Your mother is calling you for dinner," she said, trying to sound casual.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were... um... not dressed." She stammered knowing very well that Romeo didn't like this.
He always asked her to give him privacy and since their marriage this was the first day he allows her to enter the room when he is half naked.
Romeo strode over to Trina, his towel-clad body towering over her as he stood in front of her.
His eyes blazed with anger as he demanded.
"Why didn't you tell me that your mother was moving in?"
His voice was low and menacing, and Trina could feel the tension radiating from his body.
Trina shook her head, trying to placate Romeo's anger. "I didn't know, Romeo. I swear, I had no idea your mother was planning on bringing her here. It was her decision, not mine."
But Romeo's expression only darkened further.
"Don't lie to me, Trina," he spat, his voice venomous.
"You're just trying to cover your tracks. You forced yourself into my life, manipulated me into marrying you, and now you're bringing your mother into our home? Isn't that enough? Aren't you ashamed at all?"
Trina's eyes flashed with anger as she listened to Romeo's accusations.
She felt a surge of indignation and hurt, and her voice trembled with emotion.
"I'm not going to continue this conversation, Romeo," she said, her words firm and resolute.
"I've had enough of your insults and accusations. You can just stop right there."
As Trina's tears began to flow, Romeo's expression softened, and he felt a pang of guilt for hurting her.
He opened his mouth to apologize, but before he could say a word, the door was pushed open, and he stumbled forward, losing his balance.
In a split second, Romeo found himself accidentally hugging Trina, his towel-clad body pressed against hers. It was an awkward and intimate moment, and they both froze, unsure of what to do next.
Ryan, who had just opened the door, stood there, her eyes wide with surprise, taking in the scene before her.
She saw Romeo, wrapped only in a towel, embracing Trina, and a look of shock and confusion crossed her face.
