Valerie couldn't find the words to explain what had just happened. She didn't even know how much Aniya had witnessed.
Damn you, Alaric. I told you to be careful.
That man could never do anything useful with his life and was also preventing Valerie from improving hers.
She had already told him about her plans regarding Aniya. But no.
Sometimes Alaric could become a classic jerk. A pain in the ass.
Valerie swallowed hard, forcing a strained smile, "How long have you been sitting there?"
Instead of answering her, Aniya stood up and started getting down, her eyes stayed on Valerie's panicked face, "It's ok, Mom," she sighed and looked around, "I know you love him."
It's OK if he tried to abuse me. That doesn't count. After all, I'm not your real daughter. She thought bitterly.
Valerie was standing there with a guilty expression.
