Chapter 26: Alchemy

His grandfather looked at him and said "You should conceal your cultivation realm and don't tell others including your grandmother and mother for now. If word escapes, even the clans from other cities may send an assassin after you. We don't even know who the previous assassins were yet." Hearing this, his father came to his senses. "Father is right, although those big clans don't bother small clans like us, it is only because they don't want to be in the spotlight of the royal family. If they knew about your realm and saw you as a future threat, our clan wouldn't be able to protect you. What's more, the royal family would probably turn a blind eye as they don't want another strong clan to appear. The situation is already tense in the capital city."

"I know father low-key development is the best way for survival. There are certainly few spies in our clan, so I will be careful." Amrit replied. Hearing this his father and grandfather nodded. His grandfather said "Oh right I will upgrade the arrays on our clan. Punya, you should collect the materials discreetly and inform the elders on a need-to-know basis. If the other clans knew, it would be difficult to gather those materials. Gather a few trusted subordinates and have them buy common materials in disguise. Don't buy in bulk and let the other clans be suspicious. Although they will know sooner or later, the later they know the easier it will be for us."

Saying this he took out a jade slip and began engraving the required materials. "Look first into clan treasury, if the materials can be found in Bareback mountains, have the clan members search for them. If not, buy them from the market." His father nodded and took the jade slip and scanned it with his divine sense. "We have some of these materials in the clan treasury. Some of them can be found in the Bareback mountains. But some of these materials are hard to get. We can get a few of them but it will be almost impossible to get in bulk." Punya said. His grandfather contemplated for a while and said "Prepare the materials for defense and killing formation, I will put them in important locations. As for others, we will collect them slowly. Some of the arrays cannot be created right now, it will be obvious for everyone to see. Let's develop slowly and discreetly, we can't afford to have the heat on us right now."

"Alright, I will have some of my men collect them and keep an eye on the rare materials. I will come here to meet you when I have the materials myself." Saying this Punya turned to leave. Keshab also looked at the materials and said to Amrit "Okay I will reinforce and upgrade some of the arrays in the house, you have just broken through so you should contemplate and solidify your foundation. The spirit gathering array will be of great help to you." His grandfather stood up and left towards the underground chamber. Amrit didn't know what to do now. He didn't have halberd to practice the Heavenly Halberd technique and he didn't have the heart to destroy the green spirit grass outside practicing the Nine Nether Steps. Since he had just broken through and had nothing to do, he went outside and sat by the little pond to relax.

Meanwhile, Kumari was preparing to refine the Lesser Blood Essence Restoring Pill in the alchemy chamber. This pill was second-grade top tier, and although not the hardest to refine, was difficult for an average alchemist. The main herb for this pill was a blood replenishing herb and the main material or the core material was the blood essence of a second-grade beast, the fresher the blood essence, the better the pill would be. Although Kumari was a second-grade high-tier alchemist, it was only because of the lack of inheritance. There was not a single pill formula for top-tier pills in the clan. But since she had the formula for the pill she was confident in producing those pills. The average alchemist depending on the pill formula can produce up to three pills and a first-rate alchemist will produce four pills, the limit was five. Even the simple fasting pill can only be produced into five pills from a single set of ingredients. Kumari had produced up to four second-grade pills with a single set of materials. Five pills were only produced by those demonic geniuses. It was the same even for first-grade pills.

The quality of the pills was classified according to the impurities they contained. Anything with less than 50% was a failure, 50-60% was a low-quality pill, 60-70% was a mid-quality pill, 70-80% was a high-quality pill, 80-90% was a top-quality pill and 90-95% was a perfect-quality pill. After 95% every percentage created a rune-like structure on the pill surface 96% had one rune, 97% had 2, 98% had 3, 99% had 4 and 100% had 5. There were no more than 5 runes on the pill. Even perfect-quality pills were almost legend in the Emerald kingdom so it was safe to say probably no one had seen a rune pill in the kingdom. Kumari had refined 82% pure pill once. This was the highest in Lunaris city, maybe in its history.

Kumari calmed her mind and started fire below her cauldron. There were nine heavenly fires, thirty-six earthly fires, and seventy-two spirit fires in the world of Isyethnas. But the Rijal clan had no way of knowing that, their record entails only the presence of spirit fires. No one in the surrounding kingdoms had spirit fire. They were sentient fires given life by Heaven themselves. They were unique flames and only a single type of flame could exist under the Heavens. If one is extinguished then the same type of flame will appear randomly in the world. However, the forces of this world had created a technique to divide those flames into seeds and nurture them with their spirit energy so that the seed would retain some characteristics of the Heavenly flames.
