Cursed Canyon: Part 1

"That was 100% a beast right?!" Aiden freaked out.

The bang had alerted them that a beast had lived here and it was announcing its existence.

"Is Roseline going to be ok?"

"With a beast out there maybe not.. She isn't awakened."

Looking at the path that was left from the shaking, the right of the two, the group got ready for anything that might appear to their journey across it.

….

After the bang had resounded through the cave, Roseline looked back to see the entrance to the path blocked.

Honestly, she had preferred it this way but this had also ruined her plans.

But that was it.

She didn't think much about it.

Walking the path towards the light, Roseline saw skeletons and what seemed like pieces of armor around.

'Looks like this place is more dangerous.'

But looking back at the quest, it made sense for the System to make the reward so high.

She pulled up the System and looked at the Daily Quest that had be completed.

Yet she didn't accept the reward, she wouldn't until later.

'That might happen again, I need to find a safe place.'

The System made evolution much easier but also way more painful.

It compiled all the time it takes to evolve into one moment, making the cells in one's body to become extremely agitated from the constant and immediate growth.

The silence was deafening, almost made one go insane.

The only thing letting her know that she could still hear were her own foot steps.

At the end of the path, it opened up to a huge open space.

The giant rocky open space had many more skeletons than what she had saw coming there.

Looking at all the dead there, Roseline became vigilant.

She walked through the open cave, looking around and saw more of the language of the dead written on the wall.

Pictures similar to the one from before were together with the writing, detailing some kind of story from the reapers.

Much further along, a change happens to the images.

Humanoid beings started to appear beside the reapers, sometimes even under them.

"Must be the reapers's subordinates."

The images came to an end and the last one depicted a reaper ascending to what was suppose to be heaven.

But a 'heaven' didn't exist in their world.

At least not who it was pictured before in the past.

"This must be a story of a reaper turning into a god then…"

After the last image was doors even bigger then the ones before.

They looked like they belonged to some kind of royal castle with the intricate design of skulls, pillars, and scythes.

Made from obsidian and silver, the bottom part of the doors were stained with dried blood.

It was awfully eerie.

Her wariness has been worn thin and could only hope for the thing or beast to appear soon.

This was the first time she had put in such a life-threatening situation on her own accord.

She could have just done this quest later but exactly when well she have that chance?

She would be lying if she said she wasn't scared.

But like everything in the world, she had to continue on her path.

She put her hand on the door and the door opened on its own.

What came into view was a massive throne room.

Built with the same materials as the door, the throne room was filled with majesty and holiness.

At the back of the throne room, a throne that was black and red in color had a skeleton sitting on it.

The skeleton was holding a book that was black and silver.

The title only said one thing.

Shadow.

Roseline looked around to see if there were any traps.

Such a elegantly decorated place surely will have some.

Or maybe the beast from before was the 'trap'.

After not noticing any kind of trap, Roseline stepped towards the throne and thought about taking the book.

'That must be the question mark from the Quest rewards.'

She could be wrong but something deep inside her said otherwise.

Standing right in front of the throne, Roseline grabs the book and waits a few seconds.

After nothing happened, Roseline quickly left the throne room and headed back to the open space.

"Now how am I going to get back?…"

….

"It's been 2 hours and we haven't reached the end."

"We should take a break." Lucas said to Lelia, who's feet were hurting.

The group sat down and the silence that had followed them the entire path caught up to them.

"Why did we have to follow Roseline?" Emma spoke.

"I didn't think it would lead to this. Sorry."

"Sigh… The professors will find us."

"If they find this place."

Emma shut her mouth after hearing that.

Everything happened so quickly and their still not out, no one could help being anxious.

After 30 minutes the group got back up and continued walking the path.

Another 40 minutes passed before they got to the end.

Just like with Roseline, an open cave was in front of them.

But it was different too.

Rocks from the sides had been dug and put around in a circle, like a nest.

In the nest were one oval shaped yellow egg, covered in some white mucus.

Outside of the nest were skeletons almost 10 times the amount then the throne room, to the point it was a bit crazy.

Fear set down on the group, just wondering how strong the beast truly was.

Emma thought back on all the beast she knew.

"Just what beast is it?"
