Chapter 50 Sherman's Past

"Sherman wasn't always what he is now," Duke began in a somber tone.

He paused to take a deep breath, as if gathering the strength to recount a painful memory.

"When he was just a young boy, he and his mother were captured by the enemy. Sherman's father rushed to their aid, but arrived too late to save his wife from a brutal murder at the hands of their captors."

Elaine gasped in horror, unable to fathom the tragedy that befell young Sherman.

"In the chaos of the ensuing battle, Sherman's father lost his mind and his ability to fight due to Sherman's mother's death. Driven by anger and grief, he fell into the enemy's trap and was killed right in front of his son," Duke continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "One day, young Sherman lost both his parents, his world turned upside down in an instant."

The room fell silent, the only sound of the crackling of the fire as Duke gathered his thoughts.
