Chapter 52 Run Away

"Maybe I won't have to leave you after the baby is born."

After their long and passionate kiss, Elaine gazed deeply into Sherman's eyes, hoping against hope that he might give her the answer she yearns for.

Her heart was heavy with the knowledge that their future together was uncertain, and she longed for a chance to turn back the clock.

Sherman, for his part, was taken aback by Elaine's words. His eyes darted about evasively, and he slowly turned his face away from her probing gaze.

Elaine clenched her teeth and tried to remain calm, aware that her fate hung in the balance. She yearned for a favorable answer from Sherman, and was willing to take a risk to get it.

With just one firm look from Sherman, Elaine knew she would change her mind in an instant. But after what seemed like an eternity, Sherman stood up apologetically and delivered a crushing blow: "I'm sorry, Elaine. I have to go. I'll give you an answer when this is all over."
