CHAPTER 4

Iqra guesse she's lucky today. There she is. She felt a smile grow on her face watching shanaya with her friends. The brunette titled her head in confusion as SRM's head cheerleader, jasmine, leaned in to whisper something in her ear. Iqra wishes she could be one of the brunutte's friends but that seemed very unlikely.

If the stars align one day, just maybe so, shanaya would actually know who she is.

She turns her head away and squeezes her eyes tightly when she sees addy come into view and lean in for a kiss on her darling face. Wow, that stung. Really stung.

She sighs and throws the apple in a nearby can before standing up and forcing her feet to move her away from the field.

------------

When class ended, Iqra hurriedly pedaled her way to the library room.

Iqra pushed the rim of her glasses up on the bridge of her nose and put her hands up to stretch. She's been slouching and cramping her small body for hours, diligently pounding on the keyboard and squeezing every ounce of information out of her brain to produce the essay her History teacher required.

Straightening her back and stretching for the last time, she gathered her things and turned the library computer off. While waiting for it to shut down, she glanced around the vicinity for a while and caught a glimpse of a framed photo on the wall.

It's their school's quiz team after they won the nationals last year.

April 16, 2019, it read in shiny, silver letters.

Her eyes shifted and focused on a certain person on the photo.

Shanaya singha roy is a genius . She made it in the quiz team on her freshman year and won the school its first national championship. The next year she became the captain and SRM's has never lost ever since then.

Iqra felt a smile grow on her face watching shanaya.

The library computer beeped, indicating that it has shut down and Iqra was yanked back into reality. She slung her bag on her shoulder and stood up, glancing on the nearby clock in the process.

Her face scrunched up, realizing that she had stayed longer than she should have.
