Two Years Later
The dry leaves scattered on the road were much more interesting for me to see than talking to humans. The music that continued to flow from the earphones that blocked my ears became a barrier between the sound of social interaction and my world. I was not in good condition but had to look enthusiastic because this was a match that would determine whether I was still worthy of being an athlete or resigning honorably.
At first everything was fine until the second match after I won a bronze medal for the country.
