He knew he didn't have the best reputation, but he had let Angelo go, mostly in one piece, that should count for something.

Angelo instinctively took a step back, his scent had changed, it had become syrupy and more pronounced. He wasn't at all worried about Nikolai, it was just his instincts kicking in.
