Evelyn pursed her lips, finding herself feeling nauseous. The world could be beautiful, but at the same time it could be so ugly, so revolting that it dimmed much of the desire to enjoy it.
Daemon continued explaining the situation:
"The girl tried to kill herself. She survived, but the shock of the situation killed her mother whose body had been in an overworked state… That was the only family she had after her violent drunkard of a father abandoned them."
Even Daemon, for all his indifference, lowered his voice at the last part of his words, setting the tone for the depressive atmosphere that followed.
The car was silent, and Evelyn's soft features followed her heart in softening further out of sympathy. She was unable to remain indifferent in front of the plight the two women had gone through, but there was someone more important for her to worry about.
She turned her rippling eyes to Daemon, and spoke softly:
