393 - From the ashes: Engulfing calm

Step. Step. Step.

Soft, subtle, but obvious. Daemon's footsteps made the ears of the only other person in the house twitch, and she looked toward the stairs. Her pupils shook when she saw the look Daemon was sporting, along with her heart.

Unhurriedly, the booted feet stepped onto the ground floor, and turned to move toward the kitchen. Jenny's heart started to beat wildly, worse even than when she had been deployed on the field for the first, than when sh*t had hit the fan for the first time during her career.

There was nervousness, inside her, but at the very back, acceptance, and a feeling of finality. But none of that could beat the fear that grew in her body as Daemon came closer and closer. His calm expression made it worse, as it was even more unnerving than the unfeeling eyes from that night he rescued her.
