Bree did her best not to look bored at Yorgan and Ana's lecture. The Large room seemed to grow larger as what had felt like a room that could fit maybe a hundred or so spectators had filled up and now had hundreds of them, an assortment of Human and Non-Human students had gathered to listen to the lecture, less than half the spectators numbers where made up of Yogan and Ana's Thrid year class who where required to show up or be faced with a failed grade.
Everyone else had shown up simply because they wanted to, and as far as Bree could tell none had known she would be at the lecture, but from the mumbling of the crowd before the lecture had begun the possibility that Ana's days as a teacher were numbered had spread like wildfire. Many students from all years had come to watch what might have been her last lecture. The first and second years were curious as to what they might end up missing, and the fourth years and above had shown up for combinations of nostalgia and wanting to see one of her lectures at least one final time.
While a lot of the faces were unfamiliar to her, she spotted a few from the previous day, the little Corgi girl from Olu's sword lesson, and later Sweet class was with several other Corgi-like creatures that she figured might have been her siblings. She saw the sword demon who had lost to Olu when she had first arrived, who was looking at Bree a little more intensely than Bree felt was necessary.
But among all the faces there were three whose names she also remembered, Chauncy, Bellamy, and B had snagged seats in the front row, upon noticing her Chauncy pointed her out and she received a few waves, but no words as they had only just noticed her when the lecture started.
That had been nearly an hour ago, Yorgan had proved that the twenty or so minute-long lecture he had given to her about Metal Magic had been the cliff notes as he was only just finishing it off.
"-So remember, while a lot of magic may not seem all that special to you, it doesn't mean it isn't, just because everyone can use a basic levitation charm, doesn't change the fact that a hundred years ago it was a dead art, all things can be remembered with hard work, but all things can effortlessly be forgotten by time," there was a clap as Yorgan moved out of the way and let Ana take the stage.
"Hello class," She waved to them, and the room exploded with a response.
"Good Afternoon Professor Houstan," the much more ambitious response from the crowd told Bree that just about everyone had indeed shown up for Ana, Yorgan just being in the right place at the right time. "I would like to thank Professor Yorgan for his in-depth telling of how it is theorized Metal and Levitation magics were lost to time and for the stories on how they were rediscovered thanks to Archeological findings from civilizations forgotten by time and the years of research that followed," She clapped, and in turn, Yorgan got a much mightier clap that he had originally gotten upon finishing his speech.
"Now, as you know I deal with Magical studies, and as those of you visiting from previous lectures might know, Professor Yogan gave my usual parts of the speech, today we have a special guest, a visiting dignitary from the recently founded Kingdom of Melodia, Upon her request that the rules of all being treated equally on school grounds be applied to her, please refrain from calling her Queen and give Ms.Bree a Proper greeting,"
Bree smiled at Ana's extra care put into making sure her reqest not to be called Queen was followed, most everyone gave her a polite hello, although even over the roar from the crowd B still managed to be heard.
"My Windmill got bigger," He cheered, Chauncy could be seen laughing but she couldn't hear him as Bellamy tried to look like he wasn't with B.
"Now for those who are unaware, and I assume that to be just about everyone, Bree here has agreed to talk about old and forgotten magic, as she herself originates from an old and forgotten age,"
A Few students laughed at the statement, while a few others seemingly took it that Ana was being unintentionally rude, She waited for them to shimmer down before dropping the hammer, "For anyone curious as to the time-period Ms.Bree originates from, she is from the age prior to the formation of the Lunar Sea," there was a mixture of students who didn't understand the significants of that statement, and those who did.
"That's Obserd," The Large Woman who had been Olu's opponent the previous day cried out loudly, "That would set her brith in the same age as the Great Lord Mimzy, she has to be–" She cut off harshly, as the words to accuse Bree of lying had about to escape her throat, she seemingly remembered who she was talking to.
"Please raise your hand if you wish to speak Ms.Madeline," Ana said, lightly tapping her nose as she spoke, seemingly to remind the audience she could smell lies. Madeline's rage turned into some other emotion, due to her anatomy Bree couldn't tell what expression it was, having four eyes and no visible mouth made it hard.
Madeline sat back down, the intense gaze she had been looking at Bree somehow growing more intense.
"As Madeline gently put it, Ms.Bree is indeed from the primordial age from whence the eldest Demon Lord originated, to any who might think my nose is not enough to confirm this next point, feel free to ask the Headmistress, who received a positive appraisal result that Ms. Bree is indeed an Elf," Several dozen voices rang out, just about every insult was aimed towards Bree's height, or the classic bug-eyed insult,"
"Always with my eyes," Bree muttered irritably, having no rebuttal to being short and not fully caring about it, the insults about her eyes simply felt like they were just trying to hit a nerve for the same of making her feel bad.
Having apparently realized from her tone that she was sensitive bout her eyes, in no short part due to the never-ending insults thrown at them, Ana slammed her small fist against the deck, and her voice became very loud.
"What was that bout eyes?" She demanded, all the students went quiet nearly at once, allowing everyone to hear B call out in what he had probbaly tought would be a loud room.
"I got Big eyes to Miss. Bree, I know it can be hard sometimes, but they're just jealous of how much hotter we are than them," As Bellamy gave in and finally started laughing with Chancuy as B challenged any who dared mockthe size of ones eyes to fight him, Bree vaguely recalled having subconsciously noticed B's eyes seemed slightly large on his face when she had first seen him, but had just assumed it was a Lizard-Man thing. Hearing that his Big eyes had caused enough strife in his life that he had a pep talk ready for it, Bree smiled at his attempts at reassurance, however oddly specific they might have been.
"Thank you, B," She called back, who proudly wooted back before sitting down upon a polite request from Ana.
"To any who didn't know, or have forgotten, the amount of magical potential one is born with is shown in the size or number of one's eyes comparative to one's race, one such example being our own Ms.Madeline, who was born with an extra set of eyes due to her latent magical abilities, or this young Lizard Man who I hear, despite being placed in the troubled class, has the highest magical potential of any of the current First years,"
"Isn't that the perv who busted through the wall of the Womans changing room?," A Voice called out.
"I was beating the hell out of a peeping tom," B shot back angrily, a fair number of people responded with a lot of insincere-sounding words that they believed him, "May and April were in that room and he had a Camera, I don't care if you all want to side with that perv just because he's the captain of Sword club, I did what had to be done and I'd do it again," A few more call out that he was a perve but B ignored them as Ana slammed her hands down again and regained control.
"Now, if we're done insulting our Guest speaker directly to her face…" Ana took a moment to stare at the students daring someone to defy her, when none did she continued, "She will now take center stage, I know we're runing a little short on time, but please raise your hands and let her pick who she lets ask the first question,"
Ana stepped out of the way and Bree took center stage at the table as a lot of hands shot up, not wanting her first question asked to be an insult from a student trying to be funny, she chose a safe bet in the form of Madeline.
"Since you're a mage, how did you become skilled in sword combat?" She asked curiously, Bree chuckled nervously, realizing that with Ana in the room she'd had to be honest to Madeline and crush poor Honeycuts heart when the news reached him.
"Well if i'm to be honest," Bree chuckled nervously, "I'd never actually swung a sword before yesterday," The Room was quiet as she continued, "I was honestly just flailing about, I have no idea how to use a sword,"
"Just like Lord Mimzy," Madeline muttered as she sat back down.
"Wow," Ana cleared her throat and motioned for more hands, the class obliged, and sticking with familiar faces, she picked Chauncy, B was too busy sitting proudly, and Bellamy was seemingly just along for the ride.
"How'd you beat Lord Arigt?" He asked curiously before nervously adding, "Yesterday when you were out sub you pulled out his Fan Ax and mentioned you won it in a fight,"
"I used Ice Magic," Bree replied happily, already aware that the statement would cause problems, but with Ana in the room she had little choice but to be honest, a useful if not dangerous skill. "I didn't know it had become a dead art,"
Unsurprisingly the room exploded into chaos as Bree waited for Ana to calm the storm, she had to wait a hot second as Both Ana and Yorgan had become part of the storm, seeing as they both had a shared interest in lost magic forms she couldn't blame them at the concept of one being dangled in front of them.
As Ana started quieting the room down, Bree decided to get ahead of any more accusations being thrown her way, she turned her ring back into staff mode and tapped a candle Yorgan had been using during his lecture on levitation magic.
"Freeze," She said in a soft tone as Black ice enveloped the candle, the storm of sound only grew louder when faced with proof that she could use Ice Magic.
"Why is it Black?" Ana asked as she examined the Ice, the honest answer was that Bree had bought an expansion pack that allowed the addition of customizable effects to a variant of things in the game, customizing magic color based on the Skill tree it originated from had been one of the many things it allowed her.
But since Argit also had colored magic Bree was able to reply with a shrug, "Argit also has colored spells, maybe it's just what happens if you become proficient enough with a certain type of magic?"
"I have heard the Demon Lords, and a select few other groups, have colored spell, but I've never seen it before," Yorgan examined the Ice with intrest as he spoke, taking it in his hands as he did so.
"I'm supprised you don't have any Ice Magic," Bree noted to Yorgan.
"Why would I have Ice Magic?" Yorgan seemed to find the idea silly, "It's true I originiate from a cold bearing race, but there's no notible history of Ice Magic among giants,"
"You're a Frost Giant," Bree shot back, having used Appraisal to confirm her susspicions, "Your race were the progenitors of Ice Magic, similar to how Dragons created Fire Magic, Dwarved created Earth Magic, Elfs crafted the art of healing magic," Bree looked around at blank expressions, "I take it those facts were lost to time them?" She shook her head, "I need to put in a formal complaint with Demon Lord Mimzy, he should know all these basic facts, but then again it might just be he forgot over thousands of years or didn't think to pass the information along?"
"My race created Ice Magic?" Yorgan seemed beyond interested in the information as he examined the Magic Ice, Bree pondered if just the Ice resulting from her spell would allow him to reverse-engineer the magic.
Before Ana could say anything else a chime echoed through the room and Ana sighed, "Well I'm afraid that's it for the lecture, you all have classes to attend, so please let my third years leave before you all begin your departure."
As the students began leaving Ana took a moment to join Yorgan in marveling at Bree's Ice Magic, "Think of all the things we could do with Ice Magic," Ana said excitedly, "We could improve enchanted freezers so they can retain their usability in hot areas!"
"I wanted to ask, since you don't have Ice magic, how do magic freezers work?"
"A Combination of Water magic and Fire magic, using a fire charm to suck up heat from the water to make it very cold, but it was never strong enough to make the water ice over," Bree found the idea interesting but pondered why it hadn't produced ice, Ice Magic itself in the game required the player have high enough stats in Water, Fire, and Wind Magic before it became unlockable.
"Oh yeah," Bree scratched her chin, "You forgot the Wind magic,"
The two looked over at her as she made a Golden flame in one hand, and a ball of water in the other before placing a little wind tunnel between the two, upon activating the skill that allowed Fire to suck up heat the Wind tunnel increased its efficiency, and at the same time once the heat was sucked through the Winds turned icy cold.
Bree proceeded to blow the icy winds over the water and it began icing over as the flame continued sucking up any heat, "Heat sap alone just isn't strong enough, but a little wing to fule it makes all the difference,"
Bree looked over and found they were both already halfway through drawing up a step-by-step process for using the three schools of magic to formulate Ice Magic, "Do keep in mind that one needs to be able to use all three skills to acquire Ice magic, although I imagine using a magic item to substitute one or two of them might yield the same results, although I recommend at least a basic understanding of Ice and Wind, Heat sap is only really needed as training wheels for races with no aptitude for Ice magic,"
"Thank you greatly, Ms.Bree," Yorgan bowed as he thanked her, "I need to ask the Headmistress about getting a few wands enchanted with Heat Sap," Bree wished Yorgan a good day and was about to do the same to Ana when she noticed a few Students coming out of the crowd, Madeline was walking her way, with Chauncy and crew keeping a respectable distance but also heading towards her way before leaving.
"I would like to formally apologize for my earlier outburst ma'am," Madeline told bree with a bow, "I understadn on school grounds all should be treated as equal, but as a nobel woman of Cleminz it is unforgivable for me to judge one based on apperances, I am very sorry,"
"It's ok dear," Bree assured her, "I assure you of all the nobles who had questioned my origins, you're the only one thus far who at least listened to reason when provided proof, Argit provided King Thomas my Appraisal results, and he insisted it was false and I be imprisoned for complaining about his son throwing chewed up food at me," Madeline looked at Bree for a moment.
"That was not a lie," Ana noted, sounding disappointed in the realization that the King had done such a thing. King Thomases arrest and failed assassination attempt on his wife haveing not yet been made into public knowledge.
"I will pass that disgusting story alone," Madeline replied, "I doubt many will be happy at the news that Maragon's King harassed a foreign dignitary just because he thought he could,"
"Of that, we can agree," Madeline wished Bree a good day, and as she headed for the exit Chanuncy and co. arived.
"You know so much magic," Bellamy praised, "I've seen you use that plant spell, you can fly, you can use barriers, earth, fire, water, and wind, Are there any types of Magic you can't use?"
"I can use a lot," Bree assured them, not wanting to bring the nation to chaos by revitalizing any more types of dead magic, at least not immediately.
"My Windmill is so big now," B cheered, "Professor Sweets even moved it into the Eight-year Greenhouse and told me if I keep up this kind of work, then by the time I'm an eight-year he might overlook my time in the troubled class and let me enroll in honors Botany!"
"Oh, how exciting," Bree cheered as B turned on the spot and declared proudly.
"Imagine the look on April and May's faces when they see me, the honor student!"
"They'll pretend you're invisible," Bellamy assured his friend with a chuckle, as B became defensive and Bellamy chose to keep edging him on Chancy gave a little bow to Bree.
"Thank you very much for passing your teachings to us...or at least B, my familiars don't much like being made into plants, and Bellamy's armored bush ended up collapsing in on itself overnight,"
"Well that can happen," Bree responded with a shrug, "He just needs to try a more creative way of shaping his plants, maybe he should try making reinforced vines? If he gets good enough he could make a wall that'll keep standing without him having to focus his magic into it past the initial creation of it,"
"Bellamy's never been too good at sticking to things that require studying, it's why he can only use barriers,"
"I heard that," Bellamy shot back, "And you're one to talk mister, no aptitude for magic,"
"I can't study magic because I can only cast two or three spells at max without tapping out," Chauncy shot back, "You won't study magic because you just can't be bothered, your mana pool might not be all that big but you where born with a regenerative skill, you could hold a barrier up for like an hour,"
"Only if no one's hitting it," B noted, "If they getting hit then I'd give him four, maybe five minutes till it shatters,"
"If we're talking about poor excuses of magical talent, how about the big shot prodigy Lizard who only knows how to use Wind magic to make his own screams that much louder? you just a knockoff of Hanna!"
"I can also fly," B shot back angrily, "And I got Plant powers now!"
"You don't fly!" Bellamy shot back angrily, Bree waving to them as they started heading out of the room, "You just launch yourself forward and slam into whatever you hit,"
"It counts," B assured him, "Right Chauncy?"
"Boys, Boys I love you both, please stop fighting," Chauncy's plees for peace failed as the trio exited the room, Bellamy and B still arguing loudly and proudly.
"I must say I've enjoyed my time at this school," Bree turned to Ana with a smile, "Don't forget my offer in the event your employment does end up terminated," Bree offered her hand and Ana shook it.
"Since Argit has your backed your country all you need to do is register it with the Tri-Continental Peace Council and it'll be on maps without a month or two, but if I do end up being terminated I'll go to Ozama and ask for directions to your nation,"
"Greenwater specifically," Bree informed her, "It's where I live, Hope to see you again sometime Ana," Bree cut a doorway into the air and returned to her temporary room. Annie already starting up the machine to get Bree a cup of Tea. "Call Olu and tell him to call you when he's ready to depart," Bree asked Annie, "I'll go make sure Mila knows we're leaving soon and thank her for this opportunity to learn a little more about the world,"
"I'll make sure Olu is informed and your tea is ready before you return," Annie promised as Bree cut one more hole into the air and entered Mila's office, Judy the Cyclopse sat in Mila's chair, who currently had her face in the Secrataries lap.
"Your friend is back," Judy informed Mila, who quickly got to her feet.
"Oh Bree hello," She said, slightly red faces, "I'm just doing some stress relief as I suddenly have to both run a country and my school," Mila took a deep breath, "Thankfully no one's caught on to Thomas not being around save a few guards who have taken care to lock up his son until further notice,"
"I hate that brat," Bree noted, "But he was raised to act that way so I guess I can't blame him entirely for thinking it's ok to threaten people with dead because his dad says it was,"
"Oh trust me," Mila smiled, "I've sent word to my mother and father who were both more than happy to watch after their 'Grandchild' and help..." Mila passed for a moment, "...teach him some manners,"
"So you're going to claim him as yours?"
"Thomas had me sign the legal adoption papers the day after he was brought into the castle, didn't want any lose ends preventing his son from ascending to the throne upon coming of age, Thankfully now that he's out of the picture me and Judy are thinking of scoping out the local orphanages, As stated by the Tri-Continental Peace Council any King or Queen caught in the act of orchestrating a crime against other dignitaries lose ownership of their Kingdom to the ones the crimes where orchestrated against,"
"Luckily he tried to assassinate Milena before he went marching to Mimzys front door," Judy let out a low sigh, "Mimzy's been trying to gain control of this school for over a century, he would have relocated it to his Kingdome, and then thrown ownership of the Kingdome back at Milena,"
"So should I greet you as Queen Mila and Queen Judy?" Bree wiggled her brows at Judy, who simply looked away from her before responding.
"After we pick a date and have the wedding ceremony then yes, I will officially become the second Queen of Maragon, and since Thomas has disgraced his bloodline, the child Milena and I adopt will become heir to the throne,"
"I know a great place in Ozama," Mila squealed before trying to regain her composure, "You know, offhandely. Totally haven't been planing this for several years or anything,"
"If you say so," Bree smiled back as she turned to leave, "I just came to thank you for having me, it's been a blast, and I hope you'll let me return some day for more than a few days when schedualing allows me to,"
"You are always weclome to Return," Mlia promised her, "The doors to Pandora's castle will always be open to you so long as I am the headmaster,"
"Then I can't wait to see you both again, don't forget to invite me to the wedding!" Bree cut a hole in the air and walked back into her room, Annie standing at the ready with her tea.
"Olu suspectes his lessons will be finsihed in a few hours," She reported in as Bree took her drink.
"Then back to the bed we go," Bree cheered, "Might as well enjoy these quiet moments while I can, I suspect I'll be flooded with paper work when I get home," Bree took a sip of her Tea and Lead Annie in the charge to lay about on the Bed until it was time to return home.
