Chapter 2
I tried to look around. There were three women in the room with me. One of them, whom I think is my mother in this life, looked young, around 20 years old. Sweat covered her face, and her brown hair was somewhat messy. The second woman, who was talking to my mother, appeared to be in her late thirties.
In the opposite corner of the room, there was another woman in her early twenties, around my mother's age.In the room, there were some crystals stuck on the wooden roof, a painting of a grassland on one side wall, and opposite it, a window. There were also books on a bookshelf beside the door. Some time passed, and the older lady started mumbling something, and then it happened. I saw a dim green light coming from her hands, covering my mother. My mother's complexion improved, and her breathing became more stable than before.Looking at this, my mind went blank for a second. Only one thing repeated in my mind: "Magic, this world has magic."
I was excited, very excited. This confirmed my suspicion that I was in another world, not on Earth.Thinking more about the possibilities—different types of animals, dragons, or other monsters known from Earth—I got even more excited, recalling the fantasy novels I had read in my teens and imagining the possibilities
.Creak.
The sound of a door opening was followed by a joyous voice—a man, who seemed to be in his early twenties with a sharp jawline, muscular build, and dark brown hair.
He carefully picked me up from the bed and started talking to me, but I couldn't understand anything he was saying. Then, he looked at my mother and said, "Alex." My mother also looked at me and said, "Alex."
"Alex, my new name in this new world," I thought to myself. I began reflecting on my past life, and the dam broke. All the emotions I had for my family on Earth and my friends overwhelmed me. I cried and said goodbye to my past life, taking an oath to enjoy this life and my new family. After two minutes of continuous crying, everyone looked at my father, and he gently handed me back to my mother. Upon noticing this, I stopped crying for a moment. Then, I saw my mother loosen her upper clothes and start feeding me. At first, I hesitated, but then I remembered that this was my new biological mother, and she was the only one who could feed me for the next few months. I started taking my meal. After eight months, or thirty days in this world, I started consuming rice porridge and began speaking and understanding some of the words they said, like "mum," "dad," "toys," and "mom." Yes, I still didn't know how many days and months existed in this world, and "mom," the lady who was standing in the opposite corner of the bed when I was born, always called me "mom" when she took me to play. After I said my first word, "mum," to my biological mother ...Lucy was sold to my parents by a slave merchant to take care of my mother during her pregnancy. She had black hair and a fair complexion. Her village was destroyed by a wyvern, and her family lacked food as their crops were destroyed. In the end, she sold herself to a legal slave merchant and gave money to her family. When my parents were looking for a slave, she told them that she would pay part of the amount, and in return, they would free her after ten years and not force her to do anything she didn't want to. Hearing her last condition, Mom agreed, but after living with us for so long, she became welcomed into our family. Before my birth, I didn't know the whole story, but Lucy told me this much.
