Missed you

 (Ember's POV)

The restless energy pulsing through me is unbearable. I pace the grand staircase, my bare feet tapping against the polished stone, heart pounding in rhythm with my growing impatience.

Tonight is the annual pack gathering.

The estate is packed with wolves from across the region, their power humming in the air, dominance rolling in waves. But none of it matters to me.

I don't give a damn about the politics, the alliances, the traditions.

Because Kellan is coming home today. And every second I spend not in his arms is making me more unstable.

"You're going to wear a hole through the floor," Nate says from his seat by the railing, his voice laced with amusement.

I glare at him.

I know he's here for damage control. In the last twelve hours, I've clawed three wolves just for looking at me wrong. Not even aggressively—just existing too close.

My temper is shot to hell.
