Chapter 9: Coming Clean

Angela was flooded with relief when her phone rang, and Griffin's name flashed across the screen. She ducked back into the office to answer it.

"Hello?" she answered anxiously. Griffin? Are you okay?"

"Where are you?" he asked.

"At the shop," she answered. "I've been worried sick about you all morning."

"I'm okay," Griffin said. He sounded exhausted. "I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye. I had a...meeting."

"I understand," she said, lowering her voice. "Though I was hoping we could continue this morning what we started last night."

"Me too," he said, his tone sultry. "We'll get our chance. But there are some things I need to deal with first."

"Savannah was here," Angela blurted out. "I think she knows about last night. Did you say anything to her?" While she'd hoped Griffin would tell Savannah about them, she hadn't expected him to act so quickly. These things could be delicate. It would take time.
